hate to say I told you so.....

The call that kills me is the non review of the fumble at the end. I know many people think its not high percentage but i like our chances throwing a jump ball to the best jump ball WR in the game. I was at the game against SF last year when he caught the ball at the end of the half.

Now THAT would have been the way to end a Super Bowl.

I am not bitter. It happens. But I do think we were up against with the refs much of the night.

The key on that play that everyone forgets is Farrior took his helmet off and got a 15 yard flag. If they had reviewed it and said incomplete not a fumble, we would have been 15 yards closer on the last hail mary.

But to be honest the more I see it the more I think the ball was coming out of his hand before he came forward with the hand. I can actually see how they ruled it a fumble.

If Holmes has a hold of DRC's facemask, and DRC has Holmes' facemask, why throw the flag?

Well, even though its been previously

C'mon folks! This was 3 years ago. Instead of whining about it, just have hopes that your TEAM (not the refs) doesnt let the same things happen!

I think you might want to take your share of the Superbowl money and find a better keyboard or program that has spell check in it...awful lotta' mistakes. Pittsburgh schools opened two hours late today...not a great idea....GO PIRATES!!!! They have the record as you well know for the sports franchise with the most consecutive losing seasons. Maybe you better go support the Pengs a bit before they go broke and you lose Sid the Kid

Not every fan of the Steelers grew up/lives in Pittsburgh. I was never a resident of the state of Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in OH, and (as my screen name indicates) I live in TN now. I am 32 years old and have not been in school for a long time. Besides, I thought this was a SPORTS board, not a grammar/spelling forum. But ok, whatever makes you feel better after those sour grapes you've had!

These kind of fans are my favorite. I think there should be a rule you should have to have been to the city and actually attend a game to be considered a fan.

Even English made it across the pond dammit. :)

I hate all this cherry picking that you find from Steeler fans. "they represent America" and the blue collar ethic. LMAO. All week I was thinking "Theres not even that many people living in Pittsburgh and who the hell visits there?"

Lets call a spade a spade. When it came time to choose teams the Steelers were a popular team and you went with it. No shame in that. But I'd respect ya alot more if you would have been say a Browns fan. Thats not as easy.

Whatever. Sour grapes is fine. I would be saying the same thing if I had a ring and the officiating seemed to go our way. But if you don't watch the last 2 Super Bowls your team was in and realize your team got every questionable call and that played a part in the outcome your kidding yourself.

We should have stopped Ben and Holmes without a doubt. And it would that much sweeter had we overcome ALL of that and still won. But we didn't

So its fair for me to look back and wonder "what if" since we didn't.....

:D

I thought we got a fair shake from the bees in our first 3 playoff games, but last night it seemed like they reverted to the old days when just about every call went against us because our team had such a rep. for being bad.

Not blaming the refs for the loss because we needed to make a play at the end and didn't. Still disappointing though. Goodell cares as much about officiating as Tom Hansen, IMO.

The non-review of the last play reminded me of a government bureaucrat, his eyes fixed on the clock at 4:29, who refused to answer the phone as he's half-way out the door. How can you NOT at least review that 'fumble.'

The refs didn't cost the Cardinals the game, but they certainly gave every close call to the Steelers. Seattle, I feel your pain.

Just because I grew up in OH doesn't mean I have to like the Browns or Bengals. I was halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh when I lived there, and I've been to plenty of games. My dad has had season tickets since the late 80's and when I lived up there, I was at every home game they played. Unfortunately, living in Nashville now, I cannot do that. However, he still has the season tickets, and I try to get to at least one game per year. That does not make me less of fan, because I follow them religiously down here. I can't tell you the last time I missed a regular season/post season Steelers game. That's how hardcore I am. So don't tell me I can't be a "real" fan because I never lived in Pitt.

As far as the sour grapes comment, that was only in reference to the previous comment about my education. Like I said, this is a sports forum.

I'm not saying there weren't questionable calls, but I'm sorry, they went both ways. Also, if you think Pittsburgh gets the positive end of every call by the refs, you must not watch a lot of AFC football. There are so many examples over the years. A lot of them in win or go home games!

Steelers went 28 quarters earlier in the year without a penalty in our favor on defense.

The point is.. over the years Pittsburgh has a pile of apology letters from the league. Paper apologies do not get us wins.

So you know what? When we DO get a call to go in our favor, I will take it. The game last night was not won or lost by either team because of the refs.

As a Steeler fan, I KNOW what this feeling is like. I look back to Superbowl 30 and the gut wrencher that was Neil O'Donnell being the MVP for the Cowboys.

I have given the props to the Cards in other threads for the fantastic game they brought to Tampa and I will stand by that Your guys will be back in the postseason I have no doubt about that.

Thats fair and I didn't mean to go off on you. I just get tired of all these Steeler fans (and Cowboy, and Yankee, and Packer) fans who know nothing about the city of the team they root for.

I saw ALOT of that this week. I have one buddy who has never set foot out of Texas yet he was talking trash about "his" Steeler's all week.

I'll tell you a funny story. I was at the Atlanta Falcons playoff game and at the half went out for a cig in communal cigarette area. There was a 30 year old or so hispanic guy decked in all Falcons gear talking all this junk about the Falcon's. So out of curiosity I asked him what brought him all the way from ATL to watch his team.

He said he was a native Phonecian and had never been to Atlanta. So I asked him why he liked the team and he responded "your going to laugh but I really liked the colors".

I wanted to punch him in the face.

LOL Well, there's definitely bandwagon fans for every team. But the only time I've ever heard of someone picking a team for their colors is when they were little, and don't really know better.

And, trust me I know what you mean about a punch in the face. There's been some people over the years I've wanted to do that to!

I can top that, there was a drunkin steeler fan behind us at the game. After Whis challenged the TD the dude was yelling the idiot coach, is challenging that. I said to him the idiot coach that led your offense to a superbowl. He said to me HUH. I asked him if he cut the tags off that jersery yet.

Then he yells out if they loses that they only have one left. I said hey genius even if he wins it he only has one left, unless he wins another. I said Pittsburgh public schooling HUH???

I was sitting next to Jim O's sister and I believe his mother and his sister had a few choice words for the drunk. All he could say was the Cardinals suck. Even other Steeler fans in the area were saying, I hope you don't think we're all like that.

I'm ignorant, but not drunk. I picked the Cards as my team in 1964, having never been to St Louis. I hated the Cowboys and I loved the Bird on the helmet, my little brothers name was John David so I related him to John David Crow & on that ignorant basis I chose the Cards as my team.

I did make trips to St Louis to watch the Cards play in the '70s

Agreed that the ball was BRIEFLY dislodged from Kurt's hand on the hit, HOWEVER, Warner was STILL able to "shot-put" that ball forward under his own power about 5 feet. While not a text book "pass", there is ZERO evidence of the classic "empty hand" they look for on QB fumbles. The laws of physics will tell you that there is no way that ball shoots out at a 90 degree agle solely from the hit. Kurt regained enough control of the ball to intentionally throw it forward. They just HAD to review that play, not to do so was an utter disgrace.

So many bad calls really taints that game. I can handle losing, as a 30 year Cards Fan I've had plenty of practice at it....and I would still rate being at that game as one of teh greatest experiences of my lifetime, but it sure does suck to have the refs miss two grounding calls on ben (and too compound the one blown call with the weak PF on Dansby), that easy facemask call on Holmes (NOT DRC!), and the very last play.

Damn I love this team.
