Jay Feely is usually pretty accurate and he had this to say..

@jayfeely: Ed Hochuli was seen doing pull ups and curls...real refs must be coming back

Remember all those times in previous years when game announcers would say, "It's preseason for the refs too!" Well, it's preseason for them now!... in week 4! I hope they're brushing up on their skills as we speak.

They better. Come next Tuesday there will be hell to pay if they don't

PFT has a great line about this:

"But as we approach the finish line, the urge to mark territory runs strong in the media, and sometimes needs to be curbed."

And Mort has the biggest bladder.

I just hope Grimm is reminding Batiste this week it's real refs now you can't hold on every play.

What's the record for holding calls in one game by a single player?

Could get ugly real quick. We might end up fourth down and Tuscon if they are calling it tight.

Hopefully we get him help EARLY before it ever becomes an issue. We've had three games and in two of them he's been adaquate, hopefully they have some more things figured out - if Sherman is out, they have to figure on someone else helping out more.

Yeah he's actually been ok my fear is we have no idea how good he actually is because the refs have been letting him hold so much.

But he's been better than I expected and we've been giving him help and I'm sure that will continue.

If they start on Sunday, the Thursday game this week would be the only one to have replacement refs. That means Browns/Ravens game would be the only one on this weeks schedule that wouldn't have regular refs. Does that make a difference, I wonder

I have ben watching NFL net/ESPN and they are not even mentioning anything about any talks of settlement.

Mort will have to backtrack soon enough. He always does.

He'll just say some owner or NFL person went back on the deal and it really was going to happen until that occurred.

I still don't see why we need refs. Can't the players just call their own fouls and penalties, with any questions or close calls going to one official to review the replay and make the decision. We called on own fouls in basketball for years and never got into any fights or slowed the game down any. The players are all adults and most are practicing Christians after all.

For those asking about possibility of locked out officials calling Thurs night game, Ravens and Browns not notified of any changes...

The communication from NFL this afternoon listed same replacement refs and supervisors, etc, as originally assigned. Team operating as if...

That won't change unless/until instructed otherwise. Until a deal truly finalized, Sunday's games remain in doubt as well.
