The Devin Booker non-appreciation thread.

2 games we had to have and both were blowouts with Booker having the worst +/- of both games. A total of -53. I'd like to see Arizona Sports display that stat next game.

with Booker was on the floor and us fighting for a playoff spot.
And once again he proved that even when he scores we lose because when he focuses on scoring it makes him even less productive in other areas.

i did used to thank Bickley was a very straight shooter. Not anymore. He absolutely is towing the company line now with another Booker promo. 2 days ago his promo totally dissed Durant to set the table for today's propoganda promo.

as i predicted, he's reporting Ishbia said he'll "never trade Booker" and Booker is set for a big raise this summer to 70 freakin million per year -- which Bickley says he couldn't be more excited about

-- and to think, 2 days ago he ranted about the "boot-lickery" of Durant when he first got here

i suspect my 30 years of following the Suns will come to an end this season

Allen was next with -12.
But his fans will insist he had a great game because they don't want to hear that there is another side of the game called defense.

to clarify -- when he was on the floor taking 32 shots, scoring 39 and and assisting on 11, the Bucks scored 20 more, as did our prior 3 opponents -- a lot more. That's how you lose games. That's how you miss the playoffs.

If only that meant what you apparently think it does. It's as much a function of who is on the court with him as it is how he's playing. He played horribly in the previous 3 games and, turnovers notwithstanding, he played fairly well in this one but you'd never know it by the +/- stats.

as i said, fans will say he had a great game, but what they should say is he had a great offensive game. The Suns, overall, have had a good season on offense. BUT WE'RE 6 GAMES UNDER 500!

and, of course, there's always other factors to consider. That's why the large text is is his having the worst +/- over the course of 4 straight crucial games. And if you want to consider factors, consider that he starts both halves and plays in the last 8 minutes with the starters -- the best players, not the bench players.

i'm sure the defensive stats will clarify that he's the weakest defender besides for a few bench players.

He's had some great games, that wasn't one of them. He's had some horrible games, that wasn't one of them. Considering he was the focal point of the defense he had a pretty decent game, much better than many of his recent performances.

the "considering he was doubled-teamed all the time" excuse doesn't cut it. never did.

just about every team in the league has a player who routinely gets doubled team and many of them are still consistent stars and superstars who find ways to win.

yes, it's a reality that Booker has trouble with double teams. That's just another reason he's not a top 20 player anymore. And NOT a player to rebuild around -- again, for a ridiculous amount of payroll.

Bickley's latest promo is him ranting that Booker's problem is that Durant is holding him back and so is the Paris Olympics because it taught him to do the dirty work. He says (uh, yells) that next year Booker can earn his raise to 70 million.

duh, i have an agenda regarding Book (the worse defensive rated Sun), exactly like everyone who hated on Nurkic (who had the best defensive rating this season) and Igor, Ayton, Sarver, etc, and so on. Grow up. You're on the wrong side of another losing argument. Every day that passes, Booker is losing value, cementing his Russel Westbrook prognosis as a perennial scorer who hasn't got what it takes to lead a team and who's salary will be an anchor in mediocrity, at best.

nothing you've said in these 7 years is as ignorant as saying the Suns would have lost by 60+ without him and his -32. It's common sense that unless the player is Wilt Chamberlain shooting 75%, the team can manage the 45% Booker shoots on any given night by taking the shots themselves.

so, what's not healthy, is you beating a dead horse (the Suns with Booker as their franchise player) because the Suns will continue to lose and you will continue to lose this argument like you did the Igor argument, "CHAMP!"

it's called mercy. You don't want me spoiling the fun for you and the other 3 posters who are the only ones still posting in the game thread (not coincidentally, the few with visions of Booker still dancing in their heads). So, I post here, where you don't have to look and soil yourself.

the more clutch the moment, the less clutch Booker too often is. Case in point:

in this elimination game, Booker is, as he often is,
still trying to figure out whether he needs to be a scorer or a passer
(he's not bright enough to figure out that his problem, i.e. the Suns problem, is DEFENSE, not offense)
But still, he often approaches a game with a mindset to prove he's a good scorer OR a good passer,
instead of having the instinct and focus to always do both.
He really has no idea what to do to win.

regardless, the announcers are with him all the way,
smoothing out his performances by focusing on what part he's doing right
(like they're peaking through towels on their head like Leander was in the pre-game)

In the most iconic moment, Booker misses 2 free throws in the 4th. Seconds later, with Booker still likely sulking,
KayRay says, "Caruso dribbles right past Booker, no weak-side help."
(i guess even for a guy like Caruso, every side of Booker is a "weak side) Caruso dunks the ball for a 23 point lead.

I'd agree with both of those points. I think he can become the player he used to be but I don't think he could ever be worth the max again.

Actually I believe he is our most valuable asset in trade negotiations.

Will I miss him?

I miss all past players which provided value to the Suns franchise, coaches included.

indeed, i've been calling for trading Booker for over 7 years. I called for trading him while his value was high because "Booker givith, and taketh away", i.e. i said his scoring would be valuable in the playoffs but his bad decision making at the end of games would cost us. Indeed we were in position to win that third straight game against the Bucks and he blew it with Booker-ball on the last play (you know that familiar move when everyone knows he's going to take the last shot and he drives right into a double-team that he can't handle, but as he once said, "whether i'm open or not i just try to make the shot" and, another time, "that's my mfing shot!"

indeed, I called for trading him for the Doncic pick to pair Doncic with Ayton.
and many other common sense moves,
not because i'm a genius, but because i'm a Suns fan, not a fanboy of any one player

i don't put any one player over the team, whether it's sports or politics
if they screw up, are a bad team player, fire em, fire em all
replace em with the next guy who understands that they work for us. Period
i'm not focused on their personal achievements, their bloated egos and bloated salaries

if you are a fanboy for any one player. good for you. root for them wherever they go,
but don't lie about it, distort the facts and berate the truthtellers because criticism of your favorite player makes you wet yourself
