I got a few LCD TV's for free...nothing shady, don't worry. The problem is someone wrote on them with black sharpie. Is there any way I can remove it or are these monitors a lost cause?

From another site:

I got it off.
I used a dry erase marker. Apparently it breaks up the sharpies permanent ink just fine. Good as new. I used a red one in case anyone was curious. But the color doesn't matter.
Found a thread about it here:

That's where I got the idea.

The dry erase marker people even sell a marker that's colorless (I think) for removing permanent marker from white boards. You may want to invest in one of those. I saw 'em at an office supply store.

Thanks for the help. I used the dry erase method and it worked pretty well. Now I gotta see if I can actually fix these. Two of the tv's use power cords that are proprietary to sharp and therefore are very expensive. :(

The big issue is I don't know what is actually wrong with the TVs, I just know they are broken. I would happily do that kind of trade if I knew these things actually worked.
