john h, why do you syart this crap? There has been no, none, nada, reports of a personality clash between Green and Hill. You always seem to take a sneaky shot at Green whenever you get the opportunity. :stupid:

Who cares? If the Cards really wanted Hill, Pendergast would have figured out a way to keep him.

With our vastly improved (from two years ago) pass rush, next year we can afford to groom some corners, just as Philly did last year.

Personally, I’m more concerned with our run stopping ability.

He's a decent back-up. And Cards made a fair offer. Realy does not have the extra speed to keep up with bigger and faster WRs. Also, at 178 lbs, he's an injury waiting to happen in a major contact situation. For the $2 - 2.5 mil he was asking, we should have qualified starter type CB. JMO.

But, we now have only 1 CB on roster (Macklin) who can play. We have to get a CB in the first rd.

We have tons of time before the opening game, I am sure that the coaching staff realizes that we will need to fortify the secondary prior to the season.

Who needs a shutdown corner anyways!!! With the pressure our ends will apply this year, my grandmother could play corner for this team. Don't waste the #8 on a CB. We can get a few decent ones later on.

Currently, we need a STARTING CB. AND a nickel CB. AND backups. You don't just look to the later rounds of the draft to fill at least three spots at one position. We need to do something, and fast...nothing spectacular, but we do need to get in some solid CBs before the season.

Yeah who needs a corner, New England didnt. We'll just play 2 extra linemen and blitz every down.

We still have these guys on our roster. I have enough faith in our current coaching staff to believe that that e.g. Tate was let go because one or all of these three are able to fill his spot.

38 Rhett Nelson CB 6-0 201 3
41 Clarence Curry CB 6-1 210 R
36 Tyrone Sanders CB 5-10 173 R

I do, however, agree that we need two more solid CBs either on Day 1 in the draft or through Free Agency.

I still firmly believe we should trade our 2nd 3rd rounder for Surtain, trade down in the first round and take Justin Miller in order to get a guy who eventually will replace Macklin as #2. We can get extra picks as well. I know everyone will say what about Surtain's contract, well we are still over 6 million under the cap plus what we could have if we traded and released some players. Anquan Boldin can wait until next year when Warner's contract comes off the books to get an extension if he plays well enough to merit it.

....replace Mackilin as #2 ? What in your mind is wrong with him as a #2.

I meant eventually, but hey if he beats out Macklin in camp is that so bad? Macklin would shift to the nickel back still is a win-win situation for us.

Green has a strong personality and a history of getting rid of players based on differences of personality and not playing ability. It is certainly not out of the range of possibility the problem with Hill is that he and DG did not see eye to eye. This is not stretch by any means. This guy fired our starting center with no backup except a rookie and fired his OLC after 6 games. It is generally DG's way or the highway. that is no secret.

Then why did Hill have a three year deal from us on the table John?

The Cards had a three contract offer of between $1-1.5 million on the table for Hill.

So, obviously Green was willing to have Hill back, but only as a 3rd CB.

EDIT: You read my mind aj!

Hill= :doi:

We gave him an offer of 1.5 million, at this time he would have had no competition for a starting spot except for any rookies that were brought in and he signs an incentive laden contract that is worth a max of $1.4 mil with a team that has several guys ahead of him.

What he wants is the big bonus. I'm sure he's noticed how well CBs got paid this year. And, how much Barrett banked last year. He's gambling on getting the big payday. It's like drawing a 16 in blackjack, and deciding to take another card with the house showing an ace. And, I can see it from his point of view. I'm sure he realizes he can get only one big contract in his career. And, if he signed a three year deal with us, his odds of getting paid big will be even poorer then.

He has also seen what has become of MarTey Jenkins, although Jenkins did play WR instead of CB.

No it's win or take a hike. Which is the way it should be.

Hill, like so many others, including the starting center you mentioned, contributed to exactly ZERO winning seasons in Arizona.

Losing has been too acceptable on the Cardinals for far too long.
