Hill has always been a playmaker.

That's a little bit of an exaggeration, Shane, don't you think? If Hill really was a playmaker, he would have been given the dollars that other mid-level cornerbacks got in free agency. Instead, he didn't get a sniff for the first two months, and then took what is basically a minimum-salary contract to be a third- or fourth-string corner, which is what he'd be here.

There must be something that NFL scouts see that we don't when they look at Hill. He's a below-average starter, but he's still young and has a lot of starting experience. Weird that it took so long for him to find a new home.

Depends what happens to Woodson and Buchanon, allegedly both are still available in trade. The only reason I haven't been posting we should trade for Buchanon is I'm not sure I want him he's too high risk he is a major playmaker but he gives up more big plays than he makes. If Solomon and Clancy could do for him what they did for Wilson last year he'd be an interesting acquisition since he's also a spectacular punt returner.

Don't really want Woodson, just convinced unless he moves to FS his best days are behind him and my understanding is the Raiders suggested that to him and he said no. Woodson was such a physical CB and the refs won't allow that anymore.

But I could clearly see a scenari where Hill plays a lot if those 2 are dealt.

I would love to have Buchanon, he is a playmaker and could maybe a #1 guy. Having siad this I would still take one of the top-3 corners in the draft over him.

Is everything
I can't figure out what Denny is doing with the CB position. I'm really concerned this will be our achilles heel this year. I'm not too excited about the prospect of 2 rooks playing major roles back there.

Alot of contracts have incentives that inflate the maximum overall value.

Shuan Rogers deal this year has such an incentive where he has to play in a certain number of special teams plays. Except that it will be impossible for him to attain such incentives because he would have to play on kickoffs, extra points, field goals etc as well as starting a certain number of snaps at DT. Doing that would be impossible.

In regards to Hill, I don't think he will start.. Which is proburbly an example of one of the incentives involved. And if does, I think he will struggle because he won't have a pass rush to support him.

Sorry, I can't see the Raiders being dumb enough to make it possible for a nickel/dime CB to count 1.4 mil against the cap.

Hill isn't all that bad. He has alot of playing experience. He can start in a pinch effectively. 1.4 is a bargain in this market.
