Gidday everyone - ok so I might be a bit biased being from New Zealand and all, but why isn't Marks given a chance in place of Burke? You guys are always going on how Burke is a clown when he gets into a game, even without my bias I know Marks would do a much better job than the Irishman. When given a chance with the Spurs last year Marks had a few great games, he had one game where he had 18 points, jump shot after jump shot was swish. He just needs to be given a chance, what has D'Antoni got against him?
Give em a taste of kiwi!!!

I agree. Burke is a sideshow clown, but the fans love him. He's not a good basketball player and he doesn't play like a center at all. I would never trust Burke with regular minutes because he doesn't take his playing time seriously. I would much rather see Burke in the paint, battling for rebounds & playing defense than standing out on the perimeter shooting ridiculous 3's.

The Suns need to give Kiwi a chance.

This board is so silly at times. We just blew out the top team in the LEast and people are complaining about the 11th man on the bench and his 2 minutes of play.

That 11th man on the bench was part and parcel to the blowing of a 30+ point lead at the beginning of the season.

And because of his and the others' shenanigans the starters have to play even more minutes in a blowout situation because Antoni doesn't trust the end of his bench to come in at the end of a game and play like they want to earn PT.

It's just a big joke to everybody on the court.

I believe that the Irishman works harder in practice, thus is given this reward. At least, the players say that Burke works his butt off in practice.

working hard in practice doesnt give you the green light to make of fool of yourself on the court. if he works his butt of in practice, then he should work his butt off on the floor. and if what he does on the floor right now is the same BS he does in practice, then he ass should be cut.

he plays NO D whatsoever, and his offense consists of setting a screen at the 3 point line and setting up for the long shot.

the part i hate the most is that this guy makes more than 20x more money than me for being a fool. ugh

I couldn't agree more. Burke is a joke. He's like one of those rodeo clowns. Marks would do a much better job off the bench.

It's easy to say, "who cares?" I mean the Phoenix Suns blew out a good team last night. The reason we should care is the reason somebody mentioned above. Coach Mike is reluctant to take his starters out because he doesn't trust the bench at all. They need to strengthen the very end of that bench, so the main rotation can get a little rest.

Blowing those leads had a lot more to do with the overall team play than with Burke. Right now with James Jones and Kurt Thomas playing so well, there isn't a lot of minutes for anyone else. I am not even sure he is the 11th man honestly. That is probably Jumaine Jones and/or Jalen Rose.

Ya give the guy a break. He doesn't come in unless we're dominating. It's even more of a slap in the face when he knocks down a couple threes haha

He may be a clown, but he's a fan favorite and the only reason people hang around to watch the end of a 30pt blow out win.

My main beef is not that its a slap in the face for the other team when Burke comes in. I want to see our bench play productive REAL basketball. I want to see Jalen Rose, Marcus Banks try some things.. but when Burke comes in it's just a joke.

For usually no more than a minute or two? You want productive basketball for one minute by a bunch of guys that haven't been in the game for the last 46?

Good luck with that. You'll never see "productive" basketball in those situations.

How is Burke not the 11th man? LB is obviously #6, KT#7, JaJones#8, JuJones#9, Rose#10, Burke #11.

I agree w/ what everyone is saying about Burke acting a fool on the court though, its really annoying. I think I saw D'Antoni yelling at him to just run the offense last night, so thats good. I just feel frustrated for guys like Jalen Rose who've waited so long to be on a good team, and now when they come in the game, they have to watch some idiot jack up threes.

I couldn't agree more. The other players at the end of the bench at least try to execute the system.

I am certain the real slap in the face is that they are losing by 20+ points, not that Burke comes in and tries 2 threes.

How about this:

We have been told time and time again that Burke is absolutely loved by the team and is the hardest worker in practice (Chambers has said it repeatedly).

When someone else does that, they can have his minutes. If Marks was doing the things to get minutes, the coach would give it to him. I acquiesce that after the James Jones situation this season, the coach knows a lot more about minutes distribution than I do.

As to guys like Rose and Banks "running the system", that isn't remotely factual. Those two guys don't run our system at all, hence why LB has taken all their minutes.

what could Burke POSSIBLY do in practice that would justify gametime. it just seems odd that he works his ass of in practice, but when it comes to him getting minutes, he jacks up threes, doesnt rebound, and doesnt play a lick of interior defense.

makes no sense.

Burke = D'Antoni's human victory cigar.

He's telling other teams, "This guy doesn't belong on an NBA roster, we're going to play him a few minutes, and we're still going to kick your a**."

Looked like Burke had a shinner under his left eye. Any word on who he mixed it up with. Or was it en errant elbow in practice?

It was an elbow to the eye in the last game.
