Former LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade is reportedly the new head coach for NC State, per 247 Sports on Wednesday.
Wade is currently the head coach at McNeese, which will play its NCAA Tournament game against Clemson on Thursday. His next stop with the Wolfpack would be his fifth head coaching role and second at the Power Four level.
In two seasons at McNeese, Wade earned back-to-back Southland Conference Coach of the Year recognition and led his team to two conference tournament championships. This season, two of his players took home the conference's top individual awards as Javohn Carter won Player of the Year for the second-straight time while Christian Shumate won Defensive Player of the Year.
Wade compiled a 57-10 record with the Cowboys and lost just two conference games. He came to McNeese following stints at LSU, VCU and Chattanooga. The Tigers made three March Madness appearances, won a regular season SEC championship and made the conference tournament championship under Wade's watch. They won 20 or more games in three of his five seasons.
