Report: Larry Fitzgerald doesn’t expect to be back with Cardinals next year

According to Craig Morgan of FOX Sports Arizona, Fitzgerald doesn’t expect to be back with the Cardinals next season.

Fitzgerald won’t be released by the Cardinals and general manager Steve Keim says the team has accounted for his massive salary cap number for 2015.

That stance could give Fitzgerald leverage to hold the Cardinals to his current contract Fitzgerald apparently is also frustrated with his role within the Cardinals Offense, which has asked him to play inside in the slot more frequently. Fitzgerald’s 63 catches, 784 yards and two touchdowns were his lowest marks in all three categories since his rookie season in 2004.

He'll either be with us at the massive salary, with us at a restructured salary, or traded. We will not carry that much dead money.

Let him leave. Thanks for the memories but the game is bigger than any one player.

Well, this will be the most discussed news on this site until March 15 (I think that is the date) when his $8 million bonus is due. Let the speculation begin (or actually continue).

I am a fan of the St Louis Cardinals. When Pujols left I thought it was over, then I came to realize that one player rarely puts a team over the top. No player is worth that much money, it takes too much away from the rest of the team

I think we save $9.2 million if he is cut but have $14.4 million in dead money. We would have to do this before his $8 million dollar bonus is due in March. Spotrac.com web site shows has salary contract information.

At the end of the day , 32 NFL teams are in a SPORT BUSINESS , and as a business no team wants to pay 23 mil. to a player who is delivering just 10 mil. worth of goods .
Larry has worth to the team , and I hope that things work out so he can stay .

No source given. Not even "a source close to Larry Fitzgerald says..."

So...whatever....

Ok second story says that... still.... whatever. When they quote Larry I'll pay attention.

I realize the money doesn't work anymore. Yeah, I know it's Tangoesque, but I'm not ready to let go. He's got something I never had.... dedication and work ethic. I appreciate what he does and how he does it... that's the bottom line.

The year the Oilers traded away Wayne Gretzky, they won the Stanley Cup. As for Fitz, if he's making it all about him then let him go. This is why I wasn't sorry to see Boldin go. I want a team, not a bunch of individuals.

Its 100% on Larry

If Larry thinks he wont be back, its because Larry chooses to not take the pay cut.

And he has the right to say no. He is a professional, this is a business. Neither side owes anybody anything.

Im completely comfortable with cutting him and moving on. Hes made a fortune. No hard feelings. See you in the ROH and HOF someday.

Calgary won that year, actually, but the Oilers did win the following year. Both were great teams with deep rosters. The Oilers also won with their backup goalie Ranford (though he could be considered a 1A). Don't mean to nitpick--I just loved hockey in those days.

That's a grip of dead money. The real benefit would come a year later. Maybe they'll go after a decent vet pass rusher in the Abraham mold and backload their deal.

Also need to start scouting receivers!
