I think there was lots of speculation last year that Kasper was either unwilling or unable to learn the other WR spots.

New coach=fresh start, I am sure he will get his chance but if he indeed did have an attitude he wont last long.

Last year didn't the coaches say the problem with Kasper was that he could only play one WR position, the one Quan was in. Now than Anquan is SE does that open things up for Kasper again?

Kasper learned a whole new Cards offense in 2 weeks and scored 3 td's for them while leading them in receiving down the stretch in 2002 and suddenly he can't learn the offense? Sully didn't like Kasper, so he didn't play, in much the same way that Sully loved Gilmore, and kept him in there even though he dropped over half the balls thrown to him. We'll see what happens with the new coaching staff, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Kasper step up now that he has a chance.

Gilmore came no where near "dropping over half the passes" thrown to him.

His problem seemed to be more one of not playing physical enough, getting knocked off his routes, out of bounds, etc.

As to Sullivan playing him just because he was a "pet"....hogwash I say.
Sully liked Gilmore for a reason. Show me some proof that he "didn't like Kasper". I'm not saying he didn't....but I never saw anything to indicate that...in fact just the contrary.....didn't Kasper stay with Sullivan for awhile until he could find his own place?

2. Tango, you like Gilmore, and I'm a fan of Kasper's so we are going to disagree. Your right, he only dropped about 1/4 of all balls thrown to him, and I don't think I've ever seen Kasper drop a ball. Here's a quote from an earlier debate on this subject.

"According to the stats you provided Gilmore has had 22 catchable balls thrown to him and has dropped 6. That means GILMORE DROPS 27.27% of all passes thrown to him. So basically, there is a better than 1 in 4 chance that he will drop the ball, yet guys on here (Tango) say hands aren't the problem? Please post the other starting WR's who drop more than 27% of the balls thrown to them, AND have less than 20 receptions on the season. (My bet is there are zero). If you were the qb would you want to throw to him?"


2. I'll let this die now, but if Skkorp, Nidan, Jo, or any of the others who are actually at practice would like to ask any WR or DB who was there about Sully's treatment of Kasper and report back to us it would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I like Kasper. I think he's got terrific hands and would make a pretty good slot guy. We'll see how it plays out. I'm inclined to accept Denny's assesment of the guy as definitive.

Actually I'm not sure he 'liked' anybody, not exactly a 'people' person . Nice guy, very competant but not easy to talk with, kind of the anti Mac.

My understanding last year was that Kaspers promlem was a numbers thing. By this I mean that for the position he played we had more then enough and he couldn't beat them out, neither could he beat out folks for ST roles which would have added to his value.

This year is a whole different ballgame so who knows. I will say that all WRs reffered to here have been doing well far better than previously, so I think the argument is moot.

Did these guys look good at the minicamp? I'm Sorry if this topic has already been brought up, but have there been any wrs (mentioned above) who have seemed to step up their game thus far. I hope we find a hidden gem out of the pack!
