The college basketball transfer portal recently opened, and the list of possible transfers is longer than Santa's naughty list.

With the recent departure of Mookie Cook, the Ducks are in the market for a shooter and one of the targets Oregon may be looking at is former West Virginia guard Jonathan Powell.

Powell recently listed a number of schools that have contacted him in the portal, and Oregon was among the 15 schools mentioned. There are some powerful teams on the list, including North Carolina, Louisville and Ohio State.

As a freshman with the Mountaineers, Powell averaged 8.3 points a game and shot 35 percent from the three-point line. His best game came against Oklahoma State where he scored 17 points on 5-of-7 from long range.

As a recruit, Powell was a Top 30 shooting guard in the Class of 2024 and the No. 7 player out of the state of Ohio.

WVU G Jonathan Powell has received interest from the following programs, he tells TPR:

Ohio State
Cincinnati
Louisville
Kansas State
North Carolina
Ole Miss
Georgia Tech
Xavier
Oklahoma State
Pitt
Creighton
Clemson
Virginia Tech

Having a shooter such as Powell would help out Dana Altman's 2025-26 Oregon Duck team. Besides looking Cook, they'll be losing TJ Bamba at the wing spot, although Bamba wasn't a sharpshooter from the three-point line. The Ducks will also be missing Keeshawn Barthelemy, Oregon's only true shooting guard. Should Powell choose to transfer to Oregon, he'll fit in nicely with the spot left by Barthelemy.
