The New England Patriots have reportedly agreed on a three-year, $69 million deal with four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

This was a much-needed move for a Patriots team that has been desperate for help at receiver for years. Even at age 31 and coming off a torn ACL, Diggs instantly projects to be significantly better than every other option on the team's roster.

Say hello to quarterback Drake Maye's new No. 1 receiving target.

It was a no-brainer signing for the Patriots as long as Diggs is healthy. The team must have felt that was the case considering they had him in for a free agent visit last week.

When healthy, Diggs has consistently proven himself to be a highly productive receiver. He was well on his way toward a seventh straight 1,000-yard season before his knee injury last year. Through eight games, he finished with 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns.

Landing a former All-Pro receiver with Diggs' talent is a major free agency win for New England.
