Reports: Phillies close to acquiring veteran Bruce

The Philadelphia Phillies are close to acquiring veteran outfielder Jay Bruce from the Seattle Mariners, multiple outlets reported Saturday. The Athletic said Philadelphia would take on most of the remaining value of the three-year, $39 million contract Bruce signed with the New York Mets in January 2018. Playing in his 12th season in the majors and first in Seattle, the 32-year-old Bruce is batting .212 with 14 homers and 28 RBIs in 47 games.
