Anyone watch this last night? Has Denis Leary as a NY City firefighter...I really enjoyed it.

One of those shows that that's hard to believe can get away with what happens on it. Lots of swearing and stuff, it's rated MA...but it's on FX...didn't know they could just get around censorship by posting a Viewer's Discretion warning...

Anyways, looks good to meee, I'm going to give it a chance.

I have it taped and will watch it today. I am really looking forward to it.

FX does an amazing job on their series and they do push the envelope. The Shield is amazing and they had this show Lucky that only lasted a year but was critically acclaimed and I loved it. I have never seen Nip/Tuck but wanted to check it out as well.

Yeah, I'd probably like the Shield, but there are only so many cop shows I can take...at least Rescue Me is about firefighters, lol.

Very good show. The other thing about the FX shows that is so apparent here is the character development. I like this one.

One thing I am not too sure about (and I fully admit it may be true for firefighters) is this whole seeing the dead people thing and talking to them. I know it is intregal to Leary's character development but I really wonder if a firefighter really deals with that. Thoughts?

Well, I don't know if it's a thing with firefighters as much as ANYONE who has gone through some traumatic situation.

It does seem a little weird, and I wonder if they will always be part of the show?

What?
I'm looking forward to checking it out. There isn't much else to get excited about.

Joey- I give it two weeks.
CSI-Tempe, CSI-Chandler, CSI-Yuma .... geez. Way to totally screw up the best show in years.

I think Leary can pull this off famously.

Is anyone else watching this show.

It is on FX. It stars Dennis Leary and centers around his life as a NYC fireman.

It is crazy, very adult oriented, and a total drama fest but it is also really funny. I have been hooked the past 4 or 5 weeks.

The season finale is on next week. I wonder if it will make it to next season as the few shows I start watching usually get cancelled soon after. :|

anyone?

I love that show... thank god the whole seeing ghosts thing has died down a bit, its ok in little pieces, but that storyline could really take over the show. The midget is cracking me up.. I had a feeling he was having a thing for the uncle... guess we see how far it goes on the finale!!! The lady that plays Leary's wife is hot, so is the wife of his best friend that he is banging and shouldnt be... then again the priest shouldnt be either... lol

I am glad they eased back on the ghost business too. Thought it was getting out of control. I had kind of hoped that one firefighter was going to hook up with the chick firefighter. She is pretty tasty.

The midget and uncle are a crack up and I cannot wait to see how that unfolds next week.

Haven't heard if it has been picked up yet for next year.

The Golden Midget! LOL

The show was big on the alzheimers angle last night.

The part with the woman firefighter gluing the Chief to the toilet was awesome. I was laughing so hard at times watching this show I was afraid I would wake up my wife who was sleeping.

Next week looks really interesting.

I am also wondering what the X-wife needs all that money for.The showed where the previous money was saved in the drawer and not spent on credit cards and such like she said it was for.

The fight with the preacher at the wake was priceless. Then the uncle telling him he is going to hell for that. LOL

Rescue Me on FX

Did anybody watch "Rescue Me" this past summer? Remember that firemen show in NYC after 9/11?

I really liked that show, and hope it comes back in the fall or whatever. A nice break from all this "reality" crap. Kept you interested and Dennis Leary (whom I've never liked before) did a real good job of not only acting in it as te lead character, but I believed he produced and wrote most of the material. It was on FX kinda late in the evening so none of my friends watched it. They all go to bed early. How 'bout it? What did you guys think?

Salvation is theme for new ‘Rescue Me’
USA Today

On the first season of FX's Rescue Me, New York firefighter Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) had to deal with his estranged wife taking off with his kids, his role in another firefighter's injury and Manhattan firehouse colleagues furious that he had gotten involved with a 9/11 widow — whom he got pregnant.

For the second season, Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT starting June 21, Tommy is assigned to a Staten Island firehouse, he's trying to stop drinking, and he needs to find a way to get his children back.

"If last season was about sorrow and the grieving process, this season's probably more about salvation and redemption," says Leary, who created the cable series with Peter Tolan. "But that doesn't mean it's necessarily better or happier."

It doesn't help that the new firehouse is the "most boring in the city" with little action, says Leary, who received a Golden Globe nomination last year for the role. That leaves Tommy "stalking" his old firehouse crew, which includes a new character played by Lee Tergesen (Oz, Monster). Other main characters return, and Diane Farr (The Job) becomes a series regular.

"What's happening to Tommy and the others, they're getting further away from 9/11. They're getting spiritually and mentally better," Leary says. "But that's not as easy a trip as we all might think."
