best graphics of any game i've seen. some of the levels such as the villages/jungles/swamps in africa look AMAZING!

i just wish RE would go back to the old games that were more of a 'survival horror' genre

Sadly, survival horror genre is just about non-existent. Silent Hill isn't even remotely scary anymore, Resident Evil has turned into an action game, Fatal Frame seems to be dead, and no new games are coming out.
Dead Space has some survival horror elements, but it's still an action game.
I haven't played the Alone in the Dark remake yet, so I can't comment on that.

Resident Evil 5, though not a survival horror game is just amazing. Like Resident Evil 4, it is not a true Resident Evil game, but unlike 4, it's definitely a Resident Evil story. It was nice to see what Chris, Jill and Wesker have been up to.

I like the introduction of co-op play. If RE isn't going to be a horror game, might as well make it a better action game. Mercenaries mini-game is even better than it was in RE 4. Ten maps and 10 different characters (well, 4 characters, but 3 variations for Chris and Sheva, and 2 for Wesker and Jill).

Love the game! :raccoon:

Honestly I liked this game but feel it takes a bit of step back from RE4. Its not a big step back by any means but it still feels like a step back. The graphics are amazing, the sound is very good, the replay value is through the roof (ultimate weapons with infinite ammo - come on) but it seems lacking from 4 in that it is very linear (in parts of 4 you could choose your own path), the interactive portions of the cutscenes seem to be thrown in, and the suitcase aspect of part 4 actually made it feel like a survivor horror game to a point.

Yeah its not a survival horror genre type game. However if making a survivor horror game means going back to those horrific controls from the first 3 games then I'd rather keep it the way it is.

Just a bit of warning for those who haven't beaten the game yet. Before the final battle with Wesker make sure that you have plenty of high-powered guns and ammo. Trust me you will be using ALL OF IT

Yes it does. Its usually a better idea to team up with someone online (there are two main characters: Chris Redfield and Sheva both of which are quite capable in combat) as the AI for your partner in a single player game borderlines on retardation.
