Resident Evil 3 a Follow-Up to the Games
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Monday, September 13, 2004

With the success of Screen Gems' Resident Evil: Apocalypse this weekend in theaters, the movie's producers and Impact Pictures partners Jeremy Bolt and Paul W. S. Anderson believe that their story leads inexorably to "Resident Evil: Afterlife."

"I always thought of the 'Resident Evil' films as a trilogy," Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter. "The first film was a prequel to the game world. The new movie intersects the film and game worlds. And the third movie will act as a follow-up to the games. It's a nice arc -- prehistory, in-game and then a sequel to the games."

Milla Jovovich has already said she'd love to do a third film.

-------------------------------------------

The last line is a no-brainer. Milla is engaged to producer/director Paul Anderson. :D

Resident Evil 3 Status Report

Source: Now Playing Magazine
Thursday, 09 December 2004

With Resident Evil: Apocalypse coming to DVD on December 28th and Alien Vs. Predator following a month later on January 25th, writer-director-producer Paul W.S. Anderson spoke exclusively with Now Playing Magazine earlier this week about the two films. During that chat, he also let loose with the status of a possible Resident Evil 3 film.

“It’s still just a concept at the moment,” the filmmaker says. “The second movie did better business than the first movie did, so obviously there’s talk of doing a third film. When I made the first movie, I always wanted to see it as a trilogy. I always had a vision for a trilogy of films, and the way I imagined it was that the first movie would be a prequel to the videogames, the second movie would be set in the same timeframe as the videogames, specifically Resident Evil: Nemesis, and then the third movie I always saw as kind of a sequel, or a postscript, to the videogames, set slightly after the time of the videogames. So it’s something I would definitely like to do, but we’re still kind of in negotiations. But there’s definitely a will to make the movie, that’s for sure.”

Anderson also filled us in on some of his other developing projects, including another videogame adaptation, Driver.

“Well, that’s a game that I optioned with the idea that I may direct, and that’s still something I’m keeping an option open to direct,” he says. “We don’t have a screenplay I feel happy with yet. We’re still kind of in the development phase of that. [And] at the moment I’m producing a movie for John Fawcett, who made Ginger Snaps, called The Dark. And next year I’m producing a movie for Corey Yuen which is an adaptation of DOA, the Xbox title. So [producing] is something that I’m doing increasingly when I’m excited about the filmmakers that we’re working with.”

Resident Evil: Afterlife is a Go
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
November 6, 2005

Constantin Film and Davis Films are reteaming to produce Resident Evil: Afterlife, the third installment of the franchise based on the popular video games, says The Hollywood Reporter.

German-based Constantin and Samuel Hadida's Davis Films also partnered on the previous chapters. Screen Gems scooped up distribution rights for North America, Latin America, the U.K., Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Portugal, South Africa, India and Pakistan.

"Afterlife" will be set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutant zombies. The film will play in the Nevada desert with the Aussie outback standing in for the American wasteland. The third film will likely set up the fourth installment, in which the action shifts to Japan.

Paul W.S. Anderson is writing the screenplay and Milla Jovovich is returning as Alice.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like they plan on churning out at least two more.

More Resident Evil for Fehr, Epps & Glen
Source: Production
Weekly March 8, 2006

Oded Fehr, Mike Epps and Iain Glen will reprise their roles from Resident Evil: Apocalypse for Screen Gems' next installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, says Production Weekly. Paul W.S. Anderson, who wrote the first two films and directed the first, also wrote the third film, to be directed by Russell Mulcahy.

Milla Jovovich is back as Alice and she's running with a new pack of humans, leading a caravan that's cutting through the Nevada desert on a long trek to Alaska. Hunted by the minions of the perpetually scheming Dr. Isaacs, Alice has zombies hungry for her flesh and lab rats hungry for her blood -- while Alice herself is hungry for only one thing: revenge.

Fehr plays Carlos Olivera, Isaacs is played by Glen and Epps stars as L.J. Production is scheduled to begin mid-May in Mexicali, Mexico.

Plot!?!?!?

Who needs a plot when you have a hot chick with guns and martial skills out the wazoo?

Such an absurd question, I mean really....

Do they ever. After about the tenth time I had to check my pants to make sure I was still a guy.

I liked the movie by the way.
