Watched extended trailer last night - looks like an interesting premise.

Looks like a cheesy knockoff of Hunger Games / Terminator, etc.

The acting does not look strong, but how can you not be interested in a show that resurrects Gus from Breaking Bad?

If it's a knockoff of anything, it's Jericho, and that show was better than people gave it credit for. It also suffered from some weak performances, but it also had some strong ones.

This one looks like it might be better than Jericho because it would seem to have eliminated familiar political entities.

I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic survival stories. I'll be DVRing it.

Hopefully it is more "Lost" than "Alcatraz". I will give it a shot.

Abrams is one of the executive producers, but this was actually created by the guy who did Supernatural. I don't know how much Abrams had to do with developing this show, but I'm guessing not much more than with Alcatraz, which was pretty awful. But Supernatural is a pretty decent show in itself, so I will give this a try.

You can now watch the entire pilot online.

I was not impressed. Typical network TV fanfare with a predictable plot and stereotypical characters. I don't see anything that would distinguish this show from countless others that came and went since Lost. This is actually more like Walking Dead, which is not a good thing, imo.

This is the exact concept I'd like to do only not like I've seen it done before, working on it now.

Glad to hear they've kept it predictable, that leaves a lot of room to work, these things always interested me too, from Mad Max to even gasp..... Water World.

Yes I rewatch that, which means I'm completely hopeless in the genre.

Yes I like the Postman too, but gosh that's what you usually get out of this, or The Road or an endless list of these things, but really there's a few key elements I think only one person has ever done well and I won't mention that one.

I think if you do this right it'd be pretty cool.

I liked all of those movies also. Watched Revolution last night and thought it was just OK. I'll give it a couple of more weeks.

So I recently completed writing my first novel, a 2 year labor of love. I had just started submitting it to agents and publishing houses for their consideration when the commercials for Revolution came on TV. There is a lot of overlap between the two, much to my chagrin.

So I can't decide if I want this show to succeed or fail. Obviously, I love the genre, but maybe now there isn't room for my take on it in the market. It's starting to get saturated.

Anyway, I am working myself up to watch it at some point.

It didn't grab you like Lost did, and the transition was too quick.

They are doing flashbacks as well to fill the gap.

IMs Klu's story line will be interesting to follow.

I wanted to like it but was left kind of "meh" about it. Most of the shows I like and follow are not put out by ABC, CBS, or NBC. Their shows are mostly blah to me.

I thought it was pretty routine but it was good enough to bring me back for at least a few more episodes.

It's on a very thin rope.

How about the Mob Doctor?
I didn't even last ten minutes on that one.

We started watching it yesterday but ran out of time. Guess we'll finish it tonight. Not that impressed with the 1st half. Also it looks like most of them just stepped out of the Twilight movies. :lame:

I'm a big sucker for anything post-apocalyptic though. So I'll probably give it at least 4-5 episodes.

Finally watched it. I don't think it'll last. Maybe it is due to the Walking Dead, but I think post-apocolyptic shows need to be grimy and gritty and grotesque. This seems too neat and shiny. There is a disconnect between the aesthetic and the setting.

I kind of disagree as i thought there was way more blood death and violence than any other network show out now. We cant put this in the same box as FX and AMC because they can get away with a lot more things than the big 3. If we look at it from a network standpoint I thought it was pretty good and kept me intrigued.

I'm still struggling with the teenage girl lead. Problems:

1. Fake TV teen angst is really annoying.

2. I don't care if she has a cute boyfriend. I really don't. But I already know we're going to get that stereotypical relationship with the militia kid that looks like he might've been in Twilight. I'm intensely annoyed by this.

3. She's not very charismatic, but already seems to have acquired a band of merry men (and woman) to follow her to their death. Ugh.

4. I'm already hoping she dies before mid-season.

On the other hand ...

1. The uncle's Han Solo routine is way overdone and I don't care. It's always cool to be Han Solo. More Han Solo being indifferent, then kicking butt, please. Nothing like downing a bottle of malt whiskey then beating 15 skilled men in a sword fight. They need to give him a sidekick.

2. We already have the inexplicable early 80s computer/modem interaction, because we didn't get enough of it in Lost. I don't know why, but this apparently always works on me. It's raised just enough curiosity in me to keep me interested.

3. Giancarlo Esposito didn't just port Gus Fring into the show. He's a little more ghetto, a little more kick butt. I like it. I also like the fact they've already started his character development -- he's morally compromised but not intrinsically bad. Good for them.
