Fans wishing to hear the material produced by Trent Reznor's much publicized projects with former Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack De La Rocha and Maynard James Keenan of Tool/A Perfect Circle fame will have to be patient. Don't hold your breath or anything.
Reznor told MTV.com that he has no idea what will become of the 19 or so tracks that he made with De La Rocha, although he did mention that in his opinion, the project "turned out excellent."
The one exception is "We Want It All," a song featured on the Songs And Artists That Inspired Fahrenheit 9/11 album. Although billed as a De La Rocha solo tune, production was done courtesy of Reznor.
As far as the rest of the songs are concerned, Reznor revealed that the decision lies with De La Rocha and is out of his hands.
While Reznor claims to have little power over the release of the De La Rocha collaboration, he does admit to having more stroke when it comes to the Tapeworm project that he created with Keenan.
Reznor said that he envisioned the partnership to be "the greatest thing ever," but it just didn't turn out that way.
In addition to Reznor and Keenan, Tapeworm included Atticus Ross of 12 Rounds and former Nine Inch Nails bassist Danny Lohner.
Although he revealed he was upset with Keenan's decision to perform a Tapeworm song during a Perfect Circle show, Reznor says they've patched things up and that he believes Keenan to be "the best vocalist out there today."
