When MJ and Bill talked to Clayton this morning, MJ asked how wise would it be if the Cards traded down for a lower #1 pick and then made a run at Greenbay's KGB.

Clayton responded by saying that when giving up draft picks for RFA, a team must trade away their orginal assigned draft pick, or higher. So trading down and giving away a later pick is not an options.

Darn. I thought that was a good plan.

I guess the Cards stay at #6.

I thought you could trade a traded draft pick, but the trade of the picks had to be done before the Trade for a RFA?

That's not what Clayton said.

He said if you have the 6th pick in the draft and go after KGB, you need to trade the 6th pick or a better pick. Teams are not allowed to trade down and give up a lesser valued pick.
