Good point. But what if Stanton has a terrible rest of the year and Palmer doesn't come back, then what?
Who knows, but why wouldn't Palmer come back? And wouldn't logic suggest that Stanton will get better as he plays more games with the team? RGIII needs some serious coaching, the talent is there, it's not like he forgot how to play football.
From week to week, we as fans act like each week's performance is all the information we need to analyze each player, and I don't believe that to be the case.
I actually saw threads this year, around the web, stating that Tom Brady was done in New England, and that the Cardinals should try and get him.... crazy right? I also recall Rodgers being roasted like he was on Comedy Central, but he just told everybody to relax. Now both of these guys are again the top 2 QBs in the League.
The offense has to click, all offenses go through spells where they are just plain off. I am not putting Stanton up there with Brady/Rodgers, and I'm not saying RGIII will be a top 5 QB. I'm saying good teams look bad at times, rhythm is everything. Stanton looked like the game was faster than he was on Sunday, and I've seen him do the opposite.
Between Palmer's new contract, and BA's love for Stanton, I'd say that is who we are rolling with for the next few years.
Trust me, I have all faith in Stanton and I know he can be good. I was vouching for him last year at the beginning when Palmer was struggling. I wasn't worried one but when palmer went out against the Rams bc we have a good back up. In regards to Palmer not coming back, he is a lot older, same knee, he got guaranteed $ (not saying he taking the $ and running), is nerve still a problem, will his knee heal, etc.. I would love for Palmer to come back, but there comes a point that there is life after football.
RGIII has gotten completely screwed up in the head. Remember when the plan in the NFL used to be to not rush young QBs before they are ready? That has gone by the wayside, but RGIII should be the poster-child for the return of that thinking.
The absolute best thing that happened for Manziel this year is that the Browns shocked everyone by being above .500 with Hoyer. He's going to do better in the long run by sitting this year out (assuming Hoyer doesn't get hurt) rather than getting pushed onto the field right off the bat.
Anyhow, very few QBs that get this shell-shocked can turn it around. Jim Plunkett is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
This, RG never sucked... the Redskins, like the Texans with Carr, made him what he is now!
Kaepernick and Wilson seem to do just fine in the division with their style.
RGIII is a very good QB when healthy and focussed. I'd take him in a heartbeat, getting out of Washington will be a good thing for him.
I agree. The same thing is happening with Bortles down in Jax. If you watch him from his early games and compare him to now, he looks like a completely different QB, and not for the better. Now, his delivery and mechanics looks very rushed and herky-jerky.RGIII has gotten completely screwed up in the head. I grabbed this from a different forum. This looks to be the Tampa Bay game a couple weeks ago.
Apparently RGIII scrambled out of the pocket and wound up throwing the ball away on this play.
His biggest problem right now is what's between the ears. He's just not very good.
