The only thing that we are getting out of this is whatever Miami wants to give over to us in a sign and trade. Ill take Beasley at this point he is young which we need and is better than nothing...

Let him walk, look to trade LB for cap space and try to get Boozer. 100% Amare will miss a full or 1/2 season with injury the next 2 years from normal wear and tear on his knees.

Probably, but there's a very good chance we'll have a prolonged lockout after next season. We're going to look a little stupid if his rehab season = the NBA's lockout season. Actually, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to discover that they already know he'll need surgery in the next two years and our 4 year offer to him is based on him doing it during the lockout.

I'm torn. I almost don't want a sign and trade unless it's a good young talent. If it was someone drafted high up in the first round of THIS year's draft I'd be OK. Otherwise, there are some "decent" free agents we could fill in with in the short term.

Sign and trade is more up to Amare at this point if Butcher is correct. If Amare finds a team willing to offer him the full home team max then he will have to ask the Suns to join the negotiation. If he is willing to take the non-home team free agent deal then the Suns don't have any say.

Miami would need a few more players under contract to even approach even numbers -- and you can't trade a player you just signed.

Miami has so much room under the cap. The numbers don't have to match, do they?

Thats right they could just trade a pick for Amare in a sign and trade.

I'd take Beasley though.

I'd like to see him in our system and think he would put up at least 20ppg. I also like a forward combo of Clark and Beasley since they are both interchangeable at the two forward spots.

Not sure how likely it is for a sign and trade for Amare, since Miami seems to be targeting Bosh...

As long as we don't get Beasley in return.

Beasley is very talented...

the hate here seems to stem from the mental issues he had...

Under Gentry's mentorship and Nash/Hill... Beasley would be fine.

He has all-star talent offensively....

If we were to take Beasley in return, we'd be doing Miami a favor. They have been trying to give him away practically for free and were unable to do so. Beasley is damaged goods. His off-court issues alone should scare teams away. We don't need someone who might disrupt team chemistry at this point.

Uh who cares about team chemistry at this point? We are not going to be good. Even if everything about Beasley is true which I seriously doubt, we need some talent.

Ron Artest is ten times worse and the Lakers won the finals anyway.

Beasley was consensus best player during his draft year.

Miami wants to get rid of him because, they are SET on freeing up that much cap room to get 3 MAX.

His off-court issues are drug related, send him to rehab.
Chemistry?
The guy is YOUNG, hence with a MENTOR he will learn a lot. Suns excellent (best in the league) chemistry on and off the court WILL RUB ON HIM.... not the other way around.

eh no....truth of the matter he really wasn't that good of a player in college.imho I hated and felt sorry for Beasley because scouts were trying to make beasley the next Kevin Durant.

I wondered how his game would translate to the pros but this is just an absurd comment. He was a tremendous player in college. What exactly did you see that leads you to state "he really wasn't that good of a player in college"? He was arguably the best player in the college game and even in the weakest year in NCAA history that equates to much better than you suggest.

Did you watch him in college? Guy was a stud, His 28 double-doubles broke the freshman double-double record previously held by Carmelo Anthony[5] who had 22 double-doubles in his only season at Syracuse in 2002–03. On February 23, 2008, Just for the record.

Good riddance, I hope we trade Barbosa and try to free up some cap for David Lee. He will be cheaper and he is a damn good player. Maybe not athletic like Amare but I'm not ready to pay max money and max years for a guy who can't get a rebound to save his life.

Eh, he was better than Durant in college easily.

Yeah so you go out and pay 13-14M$ per season for a worse player, David Lee good riddance.

Thank god the Suns won't pursue Lee either.
