Makes a case for the Cardinals pairing Fitz with A.J. Green.

Mitch who is going to throw the ball to them? I seriously doubt Fitz will be here next year unless we come up with some QB he thinks can take us to the playfoffs. He made that so clear in previous statements and I do not see him trying to jockey for money. He said he has all the money he will ever need and now wants a ring. With Fitz and Green we would be like Fitz and Boldin only without Kurt Warner.

True...but adding A.J. Green makes it all the more attractive for QBs who may want to play here (Carson Palmer? Matt Hasselbeck? Kyle Orton?)---and if the Cardinals could sign Matt Light to play LT...kick Levi Brown down to guard to battle it our with Rex Hadnot...and re-sign Lyle and Deuce...and draft a RT prospect to challenge Keith and Bridges...

And as I said...drafting A.J. Green would make Kurt Warner at least think about returning. Still a longshot...but...as they say...never say never.

Mitch you are really reaching if you can see Kurt Warner returning. He now walks among the likes of Dancing With The Stars. All he could possible accomplish is ruin his legacy. Getting back in shape after two years at age 39 is a tough order for even Kurt Warner. We were so very lucky to have had him and we are not likely to see anyone like him for the next 25 years. The way we operate with QB's it may be longer. He has money, he is a hall of fame QB. What else does he need to prove in the NFL?

I just don't see a rookie WR making that much of a difference in the eyes of the available QBs(and aside from Hasselbeck they'd had to be had by trade). The coach has repeatedly said he is satisfied with the OL play and even had the nerve to say he isn't sure what the fans are seeing since we all aren't happy with the OL...I just don't see them making a "splash" in FA and signing a quality OL.

As for Warner...come ON! He is retired, he will stay that way.

I am already mentally prepared for Marc Bulger as our opening day QB next season and another losing record--the good news is Skelton will probably get at least 6 starts to further develop as Bulger will get plastered behind our OL as it stands now. All signs point to a return of the same old Card's when it comes to fixing the QB spot...more years of chasing past success (Krieg, McMahaon, Esiason, Blake etc etc) rather than really trying to make a move (a trade for Palmer or actually drafting a QBOF).

With the Rams coming on with their new QB and improvement with other teams in our division I can see us as also rans for sometime to come unless we luck into some QB or Skelton turns into one. The odds are long on both of those.

I could live with AJ Green at 5. Green, Miller, and Petrson are the 3 "surest" things in the draft, are probably the 3 most talented, and it's never bad to add talented players.

If we draft Green I will look at that as a sign the Cards have given up on Fitz returning.

Two random thoughts if the draft goes that way:

The first is that in that situation there is no way Alex Smith returns to the 49ers, and SF is looking at starting Gabbert from day 1

The second is that there are some nice LB types available for pick 38: Akeem Ayers for one. Not a true edge rusher, but more of a true all around LB.

Maybe I'm just falling for all the late hype regarding the number of QB's slated to go in Round One, but I believe there's a better than 50% probability that the Cards will trade out of #5 to a team interested in leapfrogging the Niners to grab Gabbert.

Possible suitors - Tennessee at #8 and the Redskins at #10. Plus - Houston at #11 is said to want to trade up to grab Peterson & we could deal with them if we decided we could do better if we didn't want Peterson for ourselves. Plus you never know who Jerry Jones at #9 might be targeting.

But if everyone stands pat, I think Gabbert will fall to SF with the Cardinals going in any one of several directions at #5.

Somers put odds of a Cardinal trade-down at 1 in 4.
Hopefully Peterson, Miller or Green is available at #5 and the Cardinals pick him.

He correctly picked 11 of the first 16 players in their spots right on the money!!!

I've been listening to the Goose here in Dallas on the ticket for years talk about the NFL & he obviously has some bigtime connections...he knows the NFL like no reporter I've ever seen before.
