Just found out Friday is my last day. This economy bites!!! Anyone know of any facility/construction project manager type positions available??

I feel for you NFL_FAN. I got riffed three times within one year. You wanna talk about abuse. But I made it though and you will too. I am with you when you say the economy sucks, but it is much better now then when I got my riffs. So there is hope!! Hang in there.

Many NC school systems have plant operations managers and facility project managers. Does this correlate well with a facility/construction project manager type position? I am only familiar with the Carteret County School system's needs (Morehead City area).

Feel for you man! Just curious what kind of plant/company you're working for? Is this layoff due to seasonal or permanent downsizing or a plant closure? We hear from the media and Bush Admin how things are improving in the economy, yet hirings, particularly in manufacturing sector, have not come back? Sad state of affairs! If you've ever thought of starting your own business, there may be no better time to do so. Maybe you can find better income as a consultant and cover your own benefits. Good Luck!

I doubt this will make you feel any beter but I work at Wells Fargo Bank. They are in the process of letting around 40 go at the University Center complex in Tempe. All levels and all categories of jobs. Tried going independent before and had a few decent contracts but didn't have the required two years salary in the bank and had to go back to work after about 4 months and $15,000 in savings spent. The wife wasn't thrilled!! I will probably do handyman type work until I find something new.

Have you checked to see if Hunt has any openings at Cardinals stadium site....I have no idea if that is a fit or not...not my area of expertise..just figured they would be hiring a bunch of folks...

Typical liberal class warfare. Just what we need - the Dems pitting the rich vs poor, men vs women, young vs old, black vs white. Americans have seen that handbook played out for too long. Bush was handed a recession from Clinton, then had to deal with 9/11. I work as a Regional Sales Manager for FedEx & our business is booming. Transportation is always a great barometer of where the economy is going, Also keep in mind that the jobless rate is the last thing to improve, but it will. Interest rates are low, inflation is low & jobless rate is getting lower every month. That is a resume for a strong economy. You guys should have been around when Jimmy Carter was President & I was just getting out of college. Interest rates were 20%, now they are 5%; inflation was 14%, now below 5%, JOBLESS RATE was 11%, it is now 5.6%. Don't buy into this doom & gloom BS. We are positioned for good times.

That is so sad. This guy and millions don't have jobs and many who do are losing ground at an exponential rate and you are telling us it is BS.
