I was happy on the haze of a drunken hour
but heaven knows I'm miserable now

I was looking for a job, and then I found a job
and heavens know I'm miserable now

In my life
why do i give valuable time
to people who don't care if I live or die

Actually the trickle down theory works the way it REALLY is supposed to.

The rich make more money, drink champagne and then piss all over you.

Thank You.. May I borrow that one? Best one I've heard all week.

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

May be time to rethink that one. Why are you republican?

Why would you need to be rich to be a republican? You can have moderate- to low-income and still believe that people shouldn't live off the government teet and keep the money they earn.

It drives me crazy when people say "I used to be a democrat, but then I started making good money." That essentially tells me when you didn't have any money you thought the rich should subsidise you, but now that you're rich you don't want to subsidise anyone else. Pick a belief and run with it.

Anyway, I digress. NFL_FAN, good luck with the job search. Unemployment is a bitch.

Don't forget about sexual orientation. And by the way, I'm Catholic and feel it's a woman's choice. Enough said!

Its the Rich looking after the rich!

It is a sickening.

Remember in Novemeber to vote for anyone but the moron who is currently in the White House, since I can't.

You can do what I am doing. I went looking for jobs in Australia. Free health care, and they love to hire engineers!

Peace

I am sorry to hear about NFL FAN but this isn't a socialist society Rugby. That sounds like what you are looking for....Canada and Australia are good places to look.

The two party system is total non-sense just like politics in general. Every election year you hear the same thing from both parties...it's a joke.

This battle between rich vs poor, black vs white, white collar vs blue collar, socialist vs capitalist, etc... will continue as long as these two parties exist. They have both become very wealthy doing it.

John Kerry and George Bush are public servants...do you see them struggling to make ends meet? Do you see them getting riffed? Do you see them sharing in any pain that their people are experiencing? Nope...they are one and the same.

Just for the record...I am not a republican or democrat and I am not a 3rd party freak. I am a realist, a capatilist, and a free thinker. I don't fit into any "platform" and I don't buy into the political BS that is being sold.

If you want socialism...move to Canada or Australia.
If you want communism move to China or Cuba.
Otherwise, you live in America and this is and probably always will be a capitalist society and you will have to deal with an upper, middle, and lower class of incomes.

Don't hate the rich for being rich. It is society...Actors, football players, and singers making 5/10/20m per year while teachers, engineers, and others are struggling. That is not a republican issue...

That is cool.

My only problem with the statement, and I am in no way attacking you RedStorm since I know this is not what you are getting at, is that when did beliefs start becoming law.

Everyone should be entitled to thier beliefs and morals. But they should not be able to push/enforce those morals as laws.

This is a "free" country and civil law has been absolutely destroyed. The government should be making laws to protect our rights not to take them away. Stuff like suicide, smoking, abortion , and drugs should all be up to the individual in a free country. But it is not. Why? 1. Religious beliefs and personal beliefs becoming laws. 2. Parents not taking care our their own chioldren. If this tread of taking away civil liberties for a false sense of security continues we will all be on lock down in our own homes.

The other problem I have with republicans are their stupid 3 strike laws that allow privately own companies to buy shares of state prisons in order to use the prisoners as slave labor. THAT IS JUST WRONG. It takes jobs away from middle class workers, and forces prisoners into terrible dangerous working conditions.

But that is just me, and my stupid opinion.

It would be nice to see people get medical help, and it would be nice to see more good people find jobs.

I guess that makes me a socialist! Cool, I never knew I was a socialist. I guess I should go to Australia then.

I can still root for the Cardinals there.

BTW - GREAT thread guys. I like the fact I got to hear so great philosophical chatter and nobody started yelling at each other.

Peace

That is right we certainly cannot.

How screwed up is that?

You get arrested for a law you don't believe in and then you can't place your vote to change it.

No taxation without representation? Or something to that effect.

And people wonder why pot is not legal? CAUSE WE CAN'T VOTE ON IT!

Ridiculous!

Great thread. My faith in mankind is being restored. I am refraining from joining the discussion so it will remain civil. I'll just lurk, and keep my mouth shut. Of course , I might need medical attention to treat the wounds from biting my tongue.Nice and civil. Yeah.

I gotta agree with you Muffin. Our liberties continue to be eroded away every day and Republicans tend to be the chief culprits. What we need are a wave of fiscal conservatives with liberal social agendas.

Hey Rugby-

If pot were legal, it would cost ten times as much as it does now.
Most people could grow personal use pot, and never get caught, the trouble starts when you get into distribution.
Instead of complaining about the lack of good paying jobs, be happy that you can also make as much as you want to in this country.
Instead of feeling bad about losing some stinkin job, get a better one, make it better. The best guy never gets fired.
