That's too bad. My condolences to his family.

I remember meeting Gedney on a morning weekday practice in Flagstaff. There were not more than 30 fans watching. After practice, he came by, shook my hand, and we talked for a couple of minutes. A really nice guy.

He had ulcerative colitis. He had a major surgery removing a large part of his colon and the Cards released him.

That disease is uncurable. Colitis does kill.

That said, that is just my guess. No cause of death has been stated as far as I can tell.

This is what I have. Was diagnosed with it in my early 20's. Meds have kept it under control. RIP Chris.

My wife and I talk sometimes about the "fragileness" of life. It's a wonderful gift but it goes quickly so best to make the most of each and every day.

Man this is sad. The one time I made the pilgrimage to AZ was for the game in 1997 at Sun Devils Stadium against the Steelers. Chris Gedney made a nice catch to tie the game (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199711300crd.htm) in the 3Q. He was a very good player when healthy. He left behind four children as well, gone way too soon. May he rest in peace.
