For me it's weird I was never a huge Van Halen fan but largely because I thought Roth was a terrible singer and then when Hagar joined they went too much into keyboards and stuff for me.

But I always appreciated what a remarkable guitarist he was. Songs like Meanstreet you can just tune out the vocals and listen to the guitar. Even Michael Jackson Beat It, the guitar makes that song.

I can't believe he was 65, I knew he had been sick but I had no idea he was going to die soon.
