Don't forget to add Mel Brooks and Woody Allen to that cast. Actually thinking about it, an Expendables style movie with comedy greats would probably be the most awful piece of crap ever put on screen.
You're probably right. Case in point: 1941. Lots of big-name comedians, not so great movie. To be fair, though, they did get it somewhat right 30 years ago with It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and even Cannonball Run. But I don't think Leslie Nielsen was in either of those.
The reason I even brought it up is that I've been rewatching Alias and was coming up in my mind a group of TV characters for an Expendables group. Jack Bauer, Jack and Sydney Bristow, Fox Mulder, James "Sawyer" Ford and Sarah Walker.
