I am going to have to have an Airplane! and Naked Gun marathon. I loved his movies for the fact that it was a solid 2 hours of stupid fun.

RIP Leslie Nielsen. One of the funniest comedy actors EVER. His physical comedy is something you don't see anymore.

With all his comedy work, many people don't realize his stellar work playing serious roles, especially in one of the best (and classic) science-fiction movies of all time, Forbidden Planet. RIP

Umm...those were both Peter Graves' quotes...just saying...

Too true my man...Forbidden Planet is one of the top 3 Sci-Fi movies of all-time IMHO.

Leslie and Gene Wilder... greatest two comic actors of all time IMO. You'll be missed Les.

If you were building an Expendables of comedy greats since the 1970s, both Gene Wilder and Leslie Nielsen would be on it.

Irvin Kershner, director of Empire Strikes Back, also died today.

I just read that...the one, and only, "true" director of any of the Star Wars movies. If you ever wondered why it was the best Star Wars film, it was because of this guy.

Don't forget to add Mel Brooks and Woody Allen to that cast. Actually thinking about it, an Expendables style movie with comedy greats would probably be the most awful piece of crap ever put on screen.

"Stewardess? What did these people have for dinner?"

"We had a choice of chicken or fish."

"Oh yes, I remember, I had lasagna."

After being retired for sixth months I was finally back into action. Faster than you can say spread 'em - I was inside the cold grey walls of Statesville Prison. I was surrounded by pimps, racists and murderers. It was like being in the stands at a Raiders game.

You're probably right. Case in point: 1941. Lots of big-name comedians, not so great movie. To be fair, though, they did get it somewhat right 30 years ago with It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and even Cannonball Run. But I don't think Leslie Nielsen was in either of those. :(

The reason I even brought it up is that I've been rewatching Alias and was coming up in my mind a group of TV characters for an Expendables group. Jack Bauer, Jack and Sydney Bristow, Fox Mulder, James "Sawyer" Ford and Sarah Walker. :D
