Whoa. He was such a talented actor.

Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead Sunday afternoon in his Manhattan apartment, according to law enforcement officials, The Wall Street Journal reported at around 1:30 pm EST.

So sad. Damn drug.

That is 2 major franchises to lose a star this year. So eerie.

Oscars will be somber this year, I feel.

RIP

I truly didn't remember him in his first major (well, minor role in a major film) role in Scent of A Woman, but I do remember him as the crazy guy in Twister. What an amazing talent and what a resume!

This sucks. PSH has always been one of my favorite actors. He could do it all.

From brilliantly un likable in Patch Adams and Moneyball
Creepy in Magnolia and Boogie Nights
Lovable in The Big Lebowski and Twister (he was the only good part of that movie)
And just plain great in Almost Famous and Pirate Radio

Just to name a few.

This makes me very sad.

I have no idea who he is, but I saw this tweet that sad he died of a "bad batch" of heroin.

Is there such a thing as a good batch of heroin?

good batches get you high and don't kill you.

Even great heroin can kill you. The danger with "bad" batches is when it is more pure than the addicts are used to. The take their usual amounts and OD

He was clean for 23 years. Damn.

As far as anyone "supposedly" knows.

He could have been a functioning drug addict. Even with Heroin.

Drugs 1 stars 0 in 2014

Yea lets legalize ;)

Your gonna compare marijuana to herion? Sorry but anyone who makes that comparison just sounds ignorant.

Could careless how great of an actor he was, junkies die everyday. No sympathy for someone who chooses to do that ****. no drugs and addiction is not a disease

Who said Im comparing it to marijuana?

Can you quote that part please?

Ive seen and heard and read many who are in favor of legalizing drugs across the board not JUST marijuana.

Couple that in with the extremely dangerous prescription drugs that are legally allowed, and the whole thing is just a big game of death, and suffering.

My hope is that what is illegal and legal could be based on how safe/damaging the drug is.

Not how much profit can be made.

Regardless, sucks Hoffman died, so many great talents seem to go down this path. Wonder why that is.

Couldn't an argument be made that legal drugs could be monitored to insure they are not cut with these added poisons, thereby creating a safer product for the consumer? Perhaps we'd still have a scoreless tie going.

It would be nice if you could at least let the body get cold before being a complete horse's backside. The man had children, family, and people who loved him. Plenty of reasons for sympathy.

Speaking of sounding ignorant. Feeling a bit judgmental today?

Sounds like the guy was very troubled, suffered from mental illness. Yes he obviously made bad choices but not everyone does drugs just because they are choosing to get high and accidentally die. Addiction can happen to lots of different types of people not just "junkies." People go through things and cope with them in different ways, you have no idea what his life was like leading up to that point.

No I don't feel judgmental or any sympathy, I've seen my family just ripped apart by drugs meth and herion( which has made a huge comeback in the last 3 years). I've seen on this thread oh no how sad, how tragic what a loss oh feel bad he had kids, to bad he didn't care enough about his own kids to stop from putting that needle in his arm.

I feel bad for his kids that's the real victim here. I don't feel sad for him. You turn to something like herion to escape your reality your asking for it. Its the most disgusting thing you can do.how many in this thread seen someone shoot up? How many here seen someone OD? How many been to that funeral, seen kids and family cry because I have all because someone wanted to get high.

Save me that tortured artist BS

You just love putting words in other peoples posts dont you? Just as Shane never mentioned Marijuana, I never said anything about "tortured artist" I was talking about mental illness and addiction.

But it's fine enjoy the view from your high horse.
