Is everything
no drugs and addiction is not a disease

Smart people who are paid to study things and tell us about them often state that genetic variation could very well be a key factor in an increased risk for addiction. Is that a disease? Maybe, maybe not, but the human condition is a complex thing.

You just love putting words in other peoples posts dont you? Just as Shane never mentioned Marijuana, I never said anything about "tortured artist" I was talking about mental illness and addiction.

But it's fine enjoy the view from your high horse.

I'm on the same page as you.

Plenty of people suffer from a mental illness, usually depression, and turn to drugs as a way out. Legal or otherwise. Others turn to alcohol. I have personally seen both sides and it's heartbreaking.

However, celebrities have the financial means to get top-notch help. So, in some respect, I don't feel as sorry for them compared to those who don't have he means to seek quality treatment.

No I don't feel judgmental or any sympathy, I've seen my family just ripped apart by drugs meth and herion( which has made a huge comeback in the last 3 years). I've seen on this thread oh no how sad, how tragic what a loss oh feel bad he had kids, to bad he didn't care enough about his own kids to stop from putting that needle in his arm.

I feel bad for his kids that's the real victim here. I don't feel sad for him. You turn to something like herion to escape your reality your asking for it. Its the most disgusting thing you can do.how many in this thread seen someone shoot up? How many here seen someone OD? How many been to that funeral, seen kids and family cry because I have all because someone wanted to get high.

Save me that tortured artist BS

My cousin's daughter died from a heroin OD last year. She was a college student from a solid, middle class family. Good parents. And a massive predisposition to addiction judging by the number of drunks and druggies we've had in the family. Going back generations.

It sucks no matter who it is. It sucks if it's a guy in the ghetto, it sucks if it's a guy with an Oscar on his mantle and it sucks if it's a 20-year old white, middle class girl who should be sitting in a classroom right now.

Source: 4 arrested in connection with drugs in Hoffman's apartment

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/05/showbiz/philip-seymour-hoffman-death/

Four people believed to be connected to the drugs found in Philip Seymour Hoffman's apartment were arrested late Tuesday night, law enforcement officials told CNN.

During the raid that led to the arrest of the three men and one woman, police recovered 350 tiny plastic bags of what is believed to be heroin, the officials said. The bags of heroin were branded "black list" and "red bull" -- not the same brands found in Hoffman's apartment, the sources said.
Apartments at 302 Mott Street in Manhattan, where the four were arrested, are part of the investigation into Hoffman's death, according to a police source.

The source identified the suspects being investigated in connection with drugs sold to Hoffman as Juliana Luchkiw, 22, charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana; Max Rosenblum, 22, charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana; Robert Vineberg, 57, charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia; and Thomas Cushman, 48, charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Vineberg was found to have the actor's phone number stored in his cell phone, a law enforcement official told CNN. Police discovered the largest amount of what is believed to be heroin in his apartment, the source said.

Magazine writer John Arundel said he met the actor at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah two weeks before his death.

"I said, 'What do you do?' And at that point, he took off his hat and he said, 'I'm a heroin addict,'" Arundel said.
