It wasn't just his strong leg and booming punts, it was his ability to get the ball downed inside the 20 without causing a touchback where/when most other punters would have. He was the only punter I actually enjoyed and anticipated watching punt in a game.

When I think about punters playing when I started watching football in the 70's, only one guy comes to mind. Ray Guy, booming punts & he got his leg so high. R.I.P Ray Guy.

I remember when he hit the video monitor at the top of the Superdome. I think it was the Pro Bowl so he did it as a gag. I can't find a video of it though.

I was a huge Coryell/Chargers fan and remember seeing him play against them back in the day. I wish I could find it but I read an article once about all his punts from a single game and how much field position it changed (he changed entire games as a punter). It was a different game back then, Raiders took him in the 1st round, 23rd pick. RIP.

While there are punters with greater YPA I don't think I've ever seen a punter who could "coffin corner" kick as well as Ray Guy. An icon from a great era.

R.I.P. Mr. Guy
