Booker wins the shoot out going to the finals!!!

It was a great run for the kid but I don't expect him to beat Thompson or Curry

Good point. Especially since neither team played defense, except for a 3-minute period late in the 2nd half.

A 19-year old -- our 19-year old -- showed the best basketball league in the world what teamwork is.

I'm sorry but... lmao

No chance, legs are probably gone by now. He shot last in the shootout and then turned around and shot again to start the next round but great showing nonetheless.

It's interesting that the 3 finalists in the 3 point shot contest are all second generation NBA kids.

Did you see a guard that was more of a team player in that game? I thought the big guys played good team basketball for the most part but it looked like most of the guards (other than Booker) were all about themselves.

Good showing by Devin Booker in the 3 point shootout. Both players ahead of him were 7-8 years older.

Devin exceeded the expectations I saw online by coming in third. And he was the runner-up best player for the U.S.A. team in the Rising Stars game the night before.

All in all, a helluva showing for the new face of the franchise. Now let's build around him -- a genuine 6'6" Shooting Guard who can also facilitate.

The Suns twin-tweener Guard experiments have been officially buried.

The Rising Stars game means nothing, there is no such thing as proving anything in that game.

I too think Booker's true position right now is SG. However, let's not limit him. He may end up playing some PG as he develops. As you say, he can facilitate.

I like how easy he made his scoring look, but I agree. When Mudiay has the type of stat line as he had while shooting the way he did (his FG% is 34% this year, THIRTY FOUR PERCENT!!!) it just shows that stats don't mean much in this game.

I thought so. His first dunk in the finals was considerably better than Lavine's first dunk and it made no sense for each of them to score 50 there. I do think Zach beat him at the end, it just shouldn't have been tied in the first place.

Gordon got robbed that dunk at the end where he cocked it behind his head brought it down between his legs and went back up is so much harder than it looks.

Even Kenny was talking about that "I dont think these people know what they just saw"

LaVine was awesome to but I wanted to see Gordon get the nod.

Best all star Saturday night I've ever seen

It was honestly maybe the best dunk contest ever. The degree of difficulty on all of both Gordon and Lavine's dunks was insanely high.

And yes I think Gordon should have won it too. The one where he basically sat in the air over the mascot was just ridiculous and should have been over then.

The other thing is a person pet peeve of mine. When a guy sets out to dunk from the FT line, don't step over the line on your takeoff. Both the alleyoop and the between the legs dunk Zach was over the line. not by much and it's nitpicking I realize but it has always been a thing with me, if you're going to do a FT line dunk, take off at or behind the line, don't cross over.

Same thing with 360 dunks where people start to turn their body before the jump so the 360 is at most a 270 in the air.

He got robbed IMO. The degree of difficulty was off he charts compared to Lavines.
I agreed at the time and I agree now.

With no Bill Russell or Dr. J. as judges, and Shaq on, I expected a drop in the quality of judging.

I think it's fair to say that Shaq will likely never be invited back as a judge. He seemed to throw tantrum when people booed him giving Gordon a 9 too.

Fully agree. The best part about it was that both guys were nailing their dunks on first attempts. Kept the momentum and energy up.

I also agree Gordon should have won. He had more overall creativity on his dunks imo. The spinning mascot one looks gimmicky but i can't imagine how hard it is to cup the ball one handed while it's spinning and still have the wherewithal to flare out with the head grab is astounding.

Here is a point I'd like to make. Devin got his using his outside shooting. Something he can duplicate in NBA games. Mudiay got his by driving to the basket against literally zero defense, something he can't and hasn't been able to duplicate in real games.

Agreed Gordon was more creative, better. His dunk under both legs, over the mascot, should have ended things. I've never seen a better dunk.

Mudiay made 3pt shots in that game...

Haha I feel sheepish. My bad. I still think the point is valid though. Shooting 3 balls is Booker's game, not Mudiay's. That's why he can replicate this performance. Mudiay can't. Booker will get his looks. Mudiay has to drive into the teeth of the defense when his shot isn't falling, leading to his abysmal fg percentage.
