It's a decent deal.
I guess it all depends on what hapens from here.
According to Peter Gammons' sources, Arizona will not immediately deal Vazquez to another team, but will continue to talk to interested teams which include Baltimore, Philadelphia, Detroit and Texas.
Buy the team.azlandtrader said:how does one email dback owners as to my suggestion regarding rj trade?

I not sure why all the desire for Green!
AZZenny said:Also for what very little its worth, Gambo said today that he was told pretty clearly by DBacks personnel they are NOT interested in making Brad Penny a big part of any deal, and in fact balked at Florida's involvement as a primary in a 3-way last year because they regarded Penny's sturdiness and health as way too iffy. (Made me wonder if by sticking LA with Penny, whether that influenced LA's decision to pull out of the recent deal.)

I thought there would be more pissed off fans now that we're getting a guy who doesn't want to play here (Vazquez), a LH pitcher who tops out at 89 (Halsey), and a prospect catcher (Navarro) after we acquired one last summer in exchange for Johnson.
Not as bad as the Schilling deal but I heard better ones last summer and this winter.

The same can be said about Brett Myers. The problem was more Joe Kerrigan, the pitching coach, than Bowa. But in any event there have been rumors the Phillies are dying to get rid of Padilla and the whispers are drinking. However, Kerrigan's ideas for Vicente were not what Vicente wanted to do. That said - he has a terrific arm, with lots of natural movement on his pitches.MaoTosiFanClub said:If the trade with the Phils go down, it must be one of Brett Myers/Padilla/Randy Wolf with Ryan Howard. The rumor that Padilla is a drunk is a concern, but the notion that he is uncoachable is less of one. I think every one on that team was 'uncoachable' last year under Bowa. I know next to nothing about the Phils so I don't know if Myers is untouchable or Wolf is a fan favorite to prevent those deals. As far as Howard goes, a guy on his AFL team told me there was no way Howard was not going to be an All Star. The guy isn't that bright so take his opinion for what it's worth.
