That's right, I'm not going to call the guy by his stupid nickname. Dude comes out and calls the Ram defense dirty and unprofessional. Hey rookie, SHUT UP!!! The only judgement the little 'superstar' can make is based off his experience from college football and things get a whole lot different when you start playing with the big boys. There was a time when rookies would shut their trap, regardless if they were right or wrong out of respect for not being in a position to mouth off...but now they are crowned instant gods when they arrive on the field by the media and these young guys are arrogant enough to believe it. The Rams received one personal foul for hitting the scrambling style QB when he was out of bounds in the first quarter (yes Robert, guys do get quicker to you on the sideline now than when in college, so you better not tease em at the last moment before going out) but I saw nothing else in the game other than to suggest that Fisher has them playing physical. I have a name for Griffin, your CBR, cry baby rookie.

The book on RGIII has to be hit him, it will frustrate him, and then take advantage of his mistakes that come from being off his game. Sometimes it is best to keep your mouth shut if you are frustrated because teams will hear these comments and will use them to try and get in his head.

St. Louis beat writer Tony Softli had a nice series of tweets about this yesterday (H/T to Sando):

Tony Softli said:
When Steven Jackson was asked about RG3's dirty team comments Jackson said "this is not the Big12"

Mike Sando said:
Of course, Rams jumped from Big 12 to NFL this yr.

LOL. Big 12 sucks.

Kicked the crap out of that SEC team we played last week. Mississippi is still in the SEC aren't they? Hadn't won an outright SEC championship since 1960's. But then neither have Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Miss State. :p

Again one more example of two faced fans. Gripe because players and coaches never say anything interesting then gripe when they do. :bang:

Ha,

Mizzou is in the SEC now so that comment about the Big 12 sucks dosen't even hurt, although they lost their first SEC game it was against Georgia who's pretty good.

Meh, Georgia is a second rate SEC program, even though they won the SEC East last year.

South Carolina is superior but played a harder schedule last year, thus opening up the way for Georgia to "win" the SEC East.

Mizzou now enters the third tier of the SEC, behind the Arkansas', Auburn, etc. but ahead of Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Mississippi.

As long as someone says the team with Cortland Finnegan is dirty, I'll always believe them. That said, shut up Robert.

I agree with Jetstream, he should just shut up.

BUT....Jeff Fisher is the new HC there and his teams always play a bit filthy.

In a van...down by the river.
From Mike Sando
I've gone through the all-22 video with a careful eye. The Rams did take a couple unnecessary hits, but I wouldn't call their tactics egregious by NFL standards -- or even Big 12 standards.

Among the things I noticed in relation to Griffin:
  • First quarter, 3:03 mark: Linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar takes down Griffin and jabs him around the shoulder area with an elbow. The blow didn't appear to do any damage.
  • First quarter, 2:00: Griffin runs a bootleg toward the left sideline. Safety Quintin Mikell tries to deliver a hard hit while Griffin is leaving the field. Griffin was a runner on this play. Mikell didn't seem out of line.
  • Third quarter, 9:00: Griffin pitches the ball on an option play. Defensive end Robert Quinn shoves Griffin unnecessarily, but no harm is done.
  • Fourth quarter, 8:29: Griffin throws to the right, then takes a hit from defensive end William Hayes. There was nothing vicious about this hit. Hayes did not appear to have bad intentions. He did run over Griffin after the ball was gone.
  • Fourth quarter, 8:00: Griffin scrambles and slides. Cornerback Cortland Finnegan throws himself into Griffin, striking the quarterback in the helmet with his hip.
  • Fourth quarter, 4:40: Griffin gets rid of the ball while defensive tackle Kendall Langford rushes him. Griffin appears to be falling when Langford shoves him down. Necessary? No. Dirty? Don't think so.
  • Fourth quarter, 2:00: Griffin rolls right and scrambles, taking a hit from Craig Dahl just just before running out of bounds. Legal play.
Fine information usually becomes available on Fridays.

Jarvis Jones isn't a second rate player. That guy looks awesome. And he would look even more awesome added to DWash and Acho.

The SEC is all hype. They play a bunch of nothing games against weak non conference teams and then conference games against Mississippi, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Kentucky and Miss STate and unless all the teams in the SEC have 2 losses the SEC championship game winner goes to the BCS title game no matter what. And sometime even when they have two losses.

In the SEC, every non-conference game is against a "weak" opponent. Big East, ACC, Big XII, Big Ten, Pac 12.

Arkansas would dominate the Big XII.

It helps the SEC's argument when they always win the BCS national championship game. How embarrassing is it going to be in 2 or 3 years when the four-team tournatment has 3 SEC teams. :D :mulli:

:biglaugh: they had there shot back in the day & couldn't handle it.

It's just like A&M running off to the SEC because poor Texas got the Longhorn Network. Wey wey wey wey...cry me a river!

As long as La Monroe isn't in the Big 12 they might.

I don't know. The Big XII are still shedding teams. LA-Monroe might be next on the list.

But I think you can lose 3 or 4 regular season games in the Big 12 and still earn the right to lose to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Yep, the media never plays favoritism to the SEC. :sarcasm:

Past Bama, LSU & Auburn none of the other teams aren't better than anyone in the Big 12. In fact I think WVU has a shot at a NC if Geno stays healthy.

Arkansas couldn't win jack in the Big 12 just like in the SWC where Texas and A&M kicked their rears so often they ran away. The SEC doesn't play non-conference games against the ACC, Big 10 etc. They play SWAC and Southland Conference teams. (Vanderbilt couldn't even win if they were in those conferences.)

Texas is 204-90 all time vs SEC teams.

Winning the BCS game doesn't mean anything because it is played more than a month after the end of the season.

Only if you're Oklahoma. If you're Nebraska you give up and run away to the Big 10 because you've lost to Texas 9 times in your last 10 tries.

Wait, his teammate throws the ball at an opposing player effectively costing the Skins the game and the Rams were dirty? Um, OK.

it was a kneejerk reaction to a uncalled push by a dirty player

I think Griffin would find we are really dirty as well under his standards of what it takes to a pro, I will proudly say that we are much dirtier than the Rams when it comes to knocking the crap out of someone, and I would love to see Griffin play the Niners and experience some quality dirt there as well LOL

Mr. Administrator: I'd like to complain about all these people who took a very decent thread about a rookie QB and turned it into a shameful dissertation about college football programs. Everyone knows comparing college football to the NFL is like having a White Castle hamburger instead of a Flemings rib-eye.

You have to forgive 40 year, he still thinks the Pac-8, Big-8, and Southwest Conferences are still in existence and the Cotton Bowl is considered one of the 4 major bowl games :D.
