5 sacks against Levi Brown. 2 sacks in 2011 (one in each game) and 3 yesterday.

He had 3 sacks against the Cards in 2012, but Levi Brown was watching from home that game.

Yes he is PART of the OL. You said you had hoped that the Offensie Line would get better under the new coaches. I think it has gotten better with the exception of Levi Brown being the same.

So the offensive line hasn't gotten better because Brown is dragging it down.

Now that I've watched some of the replay they don't look much better after all. All of them. What looks better is Mendenhall. He has that Edgerrin James ability to get sideways in a hurry to avoid the Defender 3 yards in our backfield and make 5 yards out of nothing. Something guys like Alphonso Smith don't have.

i thought Mendenhall looked like a legit NFL running back as well. Smith looks like he doesn't belong in the league.

Seriously. I heard that Alfonso Smith is the 3rd fastest player on the team so many times during the Cards' preseason games that I want to smash a bottle over my head for thinking it on every carry where he staggers slowly forward for 2 yards. I hate Ron Wolfley so much for giving me that nugget of useless information.

There's one play in the 2nd half with Smith that infuriates me. I think it's this play but don't quote me.

1st and 10 at ARI 33 A.Smith up the middle to ARZ 40 for 7 yards (M.Brockers).

There's a very large hole there and Smith tripped over something ala Beanie Wells. He could have gone 30-40 more yards there if he kept his feet. I couldn't help but watch that play and think I know Mendenhall was tired and Taylor isn't fast but either one of them run right through that and get into the secondary. The vey next play he gets a first down but fumbles out of bounds and Arians pulled him, I don't think he ever touched the ball again.

I'm betting we're going to see more of Taylor and Ellington and less of Smith in the future. I guess that depends on Ryan Williams too.

I agree. Mendenhall is the real deal. Hope he can stay healthy.

Smith is a great guy who works hard but he is nothing more than a 4th string RB at best. He shouldn't be on the field IMO.

I am thinking RW will be activated and will see some time against the Lions... Of course, once Suh lays a finger on him, be may be out for the season again...

Not sure if this was the same play I was thinking of, because on one play there was nobody...NOBODY in front of him if he moves one foot to the left, let all he wanted to do was plow straight ahead into the pile. All I could do was scream at the TV again.

Oh yes, Levi was out both games. I forgot...my bad.

So he's only responsible for 27% of one guy's career totals. Not as bad, but still pretty horrid.

No that was a different play but yeah I remember that one too he has no vision at all.

Totally agree. Smith needs to move to the bench. I'd rather we take our chances with Ryan Williams and the rookies.

Smith is like LeShon Johnson in running up the back of guys, but at least johnson actually had 2 good games in his career.

I'd say quite confidently Taylor would have had 15-25 yards on the play I'm talking about, maybe more although he's not fast.

The other play one little sidestep and there's a big hole. That's what Mendenhall was doing so well yesterday a little small move to get through the crease.

I think one thing we all saw first hand with Edge is the difference between a real NFL RB, even an old one, and the rest of them. Edge always seemed to find a way to make that first guy miss and get yards.

If you have the replay and want to see that Mendenhall is the real deal go to about 9:15 in the first quarter. He gets the handoff and a defender is in his face 2 yards in the backfield. RM pops sideways, gets outside and runs for 11 yards. I was impressed.

It seemed to me Mendenhall left many yards on that field yesterday. More than once it looked as though he had a hole past the LOS & made the wrong cut, even my GF said so while watching which I was shocked she noticed. Probably 3-4 times I noticed.

I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get to see Taylor have any carries. The kid does seem to have the vision that Smith lacks.

Yeah I remember that play. Very nice move.

If that was Smith it would have been a 2 yard loss.

Yeah well Jersey Girl and I both knew Bradford was going to run a QB draw up the middle on the 2 point try. So what? :D:D:D
