Pena should have been the closer, he has the most electric strikeout stuff in the entire bullpen

Interesting to note that Lopez had 6 home runs in 481 at bats last year. He already has 33% of his entire total in 1 game

Did Lopez "adopt a new batting stance/work out with Larry Walker" over the winter?

I think I recall that, or maybe he drank smoothies with Luis Gonzalez..?

nice great job by Pena and Qualls to save the day for the dbacks :), also great job by the offense picking up webb who struggled.... but man a lot of aces struggled today sabitha, and cliff lee pitched like crap so webb isn't alone today lol. But always good to win the first game of the season. Also upton and Reyonlds should be fresh tommorow so that is in our favor.

Strange game. Good win. Byrnes still looks like he has head-up-arsitis at the plate and Young seems to have made a lifetime commitment to never swing at a fastball down the middle belt high.

Nice win to open the season. The ball was flying out today. I wonder if they have juiced the ball this year to make it more exciting? Also, looks like Melvin made the correct decision in starting Clark and playing Tracy at third.

Very good win.. its crazy how much Baseball can mess with your heart... There was about 4 times in the game when I just about threw up, only to go estatic not even 5 minutes later...

Overall if the Dbacks would have lost that game I would have been sick fo about a week, I am relieved they won, especially in this fashion!

Lopez has some power.. he really does, He had 23 HR back in 2005, ofcourse he has never come close to thattotal ever again, but he did show he is capable...

That said, I think more than likely he will end the season with >10 HR, but you never know!

Why on Earth is the roof and panels closed? Have we really become such weaklings here that we can't tolerate 87 degrees on a nice spring day? Pathetic.

lol
I'd love to see you sit in the RF bleachers with the roof open 85+ degree weather when the sun is beating down on you. You'd be in guest relations by the 2nd inning bitching and moaning that it's too hot and the sun glare is too much.

I work outdoors in Phoenix in the summer. This summer Ill be working outside in Lake Havasu City. The heat doesn't bother me too much, and if 85 degree weather while SITTING and watching a baseball game bothers someone, they need to get their fat, lard covered body in shape.

People all over the country sit in weather hotter than that during baseball season all the time, we ought to do the same here. If its over 100 at game time, fine, keep it closed, otherwise, leave the damned thing open.

I was in the RF bleachers, row 39...Last row. My brother and I said what great seats because we were in the shade. :) Then they closed the roof and we said, what crappy seats, last row.. :(

IMO, opening day should be a national holiday.
