So according to Michael, Rod Graves helped put the talent together on this team that makes it attractive for other coaches... WTF????

there are 31 other GM's now making plans on stealing the 5th pick of the draft from us. This is horrible.

At least Graves had the balls to say that he is getting too much credit for putting talent together and it was a joint effort with coaches and scouting staff and that Green played a key role in it.

Proves the cards are to cheap to do what it takes to win. Graves failed in Chicago and has continued to fail with the cards. Spend some cash and bring in a competant GM.

Has a single one of the not no-brainer decisions that Rod Graves has made worked out for the best? Drafting Fitz was a no-brainer, as was picking Leinart. Extending Adrian Wilson and Anquan Boldin were no-brainers. What wher the iffy decisions that Graves has taken?

Trading Thomas Jones for nothing
Hiring Denny Green
Trading down in the first round
Extending Raynoch Thompson and L.J. Shelton

Great news. Maybe Rod will hire a stellar HC like Barry Switzer or maybe we can get Mike Tice...I know, how about Graves talking Steve Spurrier to come back into the NFL for another try!
Here's to 3 more years of losing. Hate to tell ya guys but with that news it really doesn't matter who we hire as HC, we're not gettin anywhere near the SB as long as Graves is GM

VP of Football Operations... whatever the hell that means... IMO, Graves should have been right behind Denny's fat ass as they got on the first bus out of town! I will never understand the logic M Bidwill used in explaining Denny's firing, and Graves re-signing... of course, in Cardinal-Land, this sort of stuff actually does make sense doesn't it?? :bang:

Mr. B only values loyalty, not competence.

From what I have seen the past few years is that Graves has no say in draft picks or personnel decisions- those were all Green and Michael B.

Graves seems to work well with Michael B. and they have done a good job with signing most of our picks and the players to retains with solid contracts. As long as they don't let Graves start judging talent, we're okay.

I really like Rivera, Wisenhunt or Chow for the HC job.

Typical Cardinal and Bidwillian idiocy. Just got back from Vegas excited as I heard about Green's departure then I have to read this and the retaining assistant coach garbage. This team has no clue.

This was expected. But how Graves and the new HC co-operate is going to be the key here. In Green's tenure here, coaching gaffles are the reason for the teams failure, not what Graves has done on the admin side IMO.

Rog Graves deserves to lose his job for the same reason that other GM's do. Have we forgotten the bad deals, the failed salary negotiations, the failure to sign draft picks, the failure to go after free agents, and the coaching carousel in which graves has endorsed several of those coaches??????

I know the Bidwells have had a huge hand in that. However, if Rod Graves was on any other team (except the Lions) he would have been fired a long time ago. That guy shouldn't even be the GM of a pop warner team. Rod has been a close friend of the Bidwells and everybody knows that is why the guy still has a job.

Not only that, but that seals the deal that we WILL NOT get a big name coach like PC. No big name coach is going to come in here with Rod Graves as the GM.

We have had our big name coach, with this ownership group and front office it really does not matter IMO who the coach is. They simply put are NFL loser owners. Always have been, always will be. They are the one constant in the equation. The Bidwills suck at football ownership. They may be good charitable men and want to win but they really suck at running a NFL franchise. Rod Graves??? Give me a break!!!! We have not won on the field since this guy showed up and what do the Bidwills do??? Give him a 3 year extension. Without a high profile coach to get the talent here this guy will be living off of the Matt Hollywood marque name for the next three years trying to get guys here. They are just beyond reprehensable. They Pissed away the best opportunity they will ever have of winning over a fairweathered fanbase this season. Now the games will be half filled with Cowpuke, Packer and Bears fans every week. They should have cleaned everyone out and let football people come in and run the organization. It is obvious to anyone that wants to look. These owners are the armpit of the NFL.

Truthfully, I think this is our best chance of fielding a winning team next year. It's obvious we aren't far off talent wise and that some bone headed coaching decisions cost us enough games this year to not make the play-offs.

By getting a new head coach and keeping the current coaching staff, we shouldn't have to start from round one again. Hopefully we can build on this strong finish and get a new HC that can manage the clock and not make bone headed decisions that can cost close games.

Most of the knock against Graves is the bad trade he pulled off in his first year as GM and some of the people he resigned. I'm sure Coach Mac was partly responsible for the contract extensions. Anyone can make a mistake and he hasn't done anything even remotely close to that since then. As a matter of fact, he has gotten our draft picks in with-in a week of camp starting and is on par with a majority of the other teams in that repsect and the contract negotiating has certainly improved since he took over.

What world are you living in where Antrel Rolle's holdout was two weeks long and Matt Leinart was the final rookie holdout by no small margin.

Defending the guy is one thing. Making things up to defend a reprehensible decision to extend him is another. A manager saying publicly that this team wasn't one or two players away from winning when the season was still very young is unforgiviable.

Don't forget this man gave us the one two punch of Calvin Pace and Bryant Johnson, this is practically a fable in the NFL circles of how to outwit, outlast, ouplay.

This is soooooo stupid, this is so Cardinals, to bring defeat to a day of celebration.

This is the stupid arguementation about Graves that I don't understand.

Graves was respondsible for all personel decisions and should be blamed for Pace and BJ.

BUT! While being respondsible for all personel decisions, he didn't have anything to do with Boldin, Hayes and Wells in the same draft. Or Fitz, Dansby, Dockett and Leckey the year after.

How is that?

So I'm off by a week. Big flippin deal. Do you remember Wadsworth? The Cards used to have problems every year getting their first round draft in by the time the season started. They no longer have that problem and you can thank M. Bidwill and R. Graves for that.

As far as saying that the Cards were only one of two players away from winning when the season was very young---he wasn't the only one who said that or felt that way and that includes a lot of people on this board. The Cards should have won this year. The talent was there, but the coaching didn't come up to the level it should have been at until the latter part of the season. With a few breaks and better coaching decisions, this team could have been 9 and 6 and would have won the division.
