He played outside in Baltimores in-breaking offense, but in this one? He’s not going to see the volume here that he saw with the Ravens.

There’s almost no precedent for a productive perimeter receiver at Browns size in a real NFL offense.
There is a precedent in the Brown family LOL...his name be Antonio.

Then most athletes have character issues. It’s pretty common for athletes to retire out of the blue, because they show up to camp/practice/offseason workouts and realize their body and/or mind just can’t move forward. Most athletes don’t have careers of 10+ years, where you could maybe plan ahead.
Yeah. Players gonna look out for themselves because they team ain’t gonna look after them.

I think if points once again to a culture problem where people aren’t extending the courtesy of keeping people in the loop/communication open.

We don't really have a cap situation...our cap is pretty good. The problem is that the picks we do hit on we are not re-signing.

If Keim re-signs Humphries, Thompson, Murphy, and Zach Allen that at least retains some starters who are league average or above to re-set the defense with. Re-signing Humphries gets you a guy you can count on at LT and then you have WR/RB/QB/TE set. Yes, adding 4 OL is a lot but if you aren't having to add a starting CB, S, LT, and DL as well it is a little easier to do.

That was the mistake of letting Kirk head into his contract year. Not only did it let go a productive albeit limited player we drafted, but it then forced us to use a 2nd round pick on Rondale Moore who I like but we hope he at least becomes what Kirk was. If we aren't looking at WR maybe we consider Ojulari, Friermuth, or Creed Humphrey at that spot which fills other roster holes.
Disagree for this year at least, looks a lot better next year though. Since a lot of our core will be FA, we will have lots of money, but an owner unwilling to really splash cash so it won't matter.

Combine that with what you said, picks that aren't hitting... this is likely our last chance real chance at playoffs without major re-tooling.

We could have likely freed up 15 mil in cap space by extending Humphries alone. We chose to not spend this year because Keim thinks it is smart which probably means it isn't.

I guess I differentiate a cap issue from an owner issue (which is what i would equate Bidwill not wanting to spend).

Even if Hump doesn't deserve top 10 money (and he probably doesn't), the Cards appear to be almost forced to pay him for the reason Hump so eloquently stated recently (don't grow on trees) and for pure continuity.

The cardinals are in a place where they have too many holes and not good enough management to fill them with equitable talent.

What is the harm in giving Humphries a 4 year extension? He knows the system. He has stayed healthy. He gives, at worst, league average production. You have no player in your system to replace him.

Pay him 16 mil per year which is just above Donovan Smith and move your franchise forward.

I get if you have to choose between Byron Murphy and Jalen Thompson but Marcus Williams just signed for 14 mil per year and Jalen is close to him. Chavarius Ward signed for 13.5 and Murphy is comparable to him. If you can get them to sign for anything cheaper, do the deal today.

The facts are that you have to draft replacements for positions anyways and few players on the market are going to be as good and as young as these guys.

How many Jordan Phillips and Devon Kennards and Suggs do we have to go through to recognize it is just better to pay Zach Allen the 6mil that Matt Ioannidis got?

Agree and we better start paying our best defensive player, he is just 23, Jalen Thompson

If Hudson doesn’t play for the Cards, you can forget worrying about the playoffs. This must get resolved.
Harry I'm curious, whats your take on this. Is this a contract dispute?

Not much to resolve, when a player just doesn't want to play. It shouldn't be contract related...and if his heart isn't into playing any longer, throwing more money at it isn't the answer.
