Yep. If you go back over the past five drafts and look at how many of the young centers have ended up good, it's a paltry number.
past 5 drafts you say...
2021
Landon Dickerson - 2nd - started 13 games, not at C
Quinn Meinerz - 3rd - started 9 games, not at C
Creed Humphrey - 2nd - Instant hit for KC at C
Josh Myers - 2nd - Started 6 games as a rookie at C
2020
Cesar Ruiz - 1st, starting OG for Saints,
Tyler Biadasz - 4th, starting C for Cowboys
Nick Harris - 5th, slated to battle with Pocic for Browns starting spot
2019
Garrett Bradbury - 1st, starting C for Vikings
Elgton Jenkins - 2nd, starting OG for Packers
Erik McCoy - 2nd, starting C for Saints
2018
Frank Ragnow - 1st, starting C for Lions
Billy Price, 1st, FA
2017
Ethan Pocic - 2nd, on 2nd team
I don't know if saying your assertion is 100% inaccurate is correct since Price is a FA and Pocic is on his 2nd team, but other than those two, every center drafted in rounds 1 and 2 over the past 5 seasons is a starter at C or at OG. So the track record is almost impeccable. Maybe a better position would be to say drafting Cs after round 2 is a crap shoot but taking one high is almost guaranteeing you a quality starter.
