Keeping Fernando Rodney is absolutely ridiculous for the players and fans. Face the facts that he is finished. It's is embarrassing to see him pitch.

In the Denver finale, Steve and BB, who are usually honest about what is going on said that we wouldn't see him as a reliever in the following game because he had just pitched. Actually Steve said it, more than once.
As all of us realize, he wouldn't pitch because of HOW he has been blowing saves. As I posted on another thread, Rodney came here with a reputation of letting tying and winning runners on base, then trying to be a hero by keeping them from scoring. If he did, that would be bad enough, but he hasn't kept them from scoring. Two wild pitches in the 9th inning from a closer -- there is no excuse for it.
Rodney's behavior identifies him as a flake and he is living up to it. Management is in a tough spot. They made a commitment to him as the closer and he has failed. Tough spot or not, we'll see if they look back or look ahead and take steps to correct it.
I know that Archie wants to be a starter but, as I also posted, my wish is that they offer him an opportunity to be a great closer vs. one of five starters. Try it for the rest of the season. Give it your all every 9th inning you pitch. You won't have to pace yourself. And if you are not pleased at the end of the season, you will be favored for a spot in the starting rotation next season. That is what I'd like to see.

He's allowed 23 baserunners, tossed 4 wild pitches and hit a guy 10 innings of work. Even the saves have been dicey.

Who outside of the organization can we trade for or acquire? If we wanted to leave the rest of the team as it is. I wanted Rodney gone before the season started. Unfortunately he's made getting to the 90 win mark a lot harder already.
On a side note - Congrats to Rodney for becoming a US Citizen today!
And his gift was a save!

Same here. That last outing he had, the has at least 2 warning track shots.

Not that I disagree but...The one thing I can remember throughout most of my run as an Oakland, Cincinnatti, Boston, Baltimore, Atlanta and then finally a Diamondback fan is that I always have doubts when my team's relief ace enters the game.
Unless you're lucky enough to be looking at a Mariano Rivera or a Bruce Sutter or a Dennis Eckersley or a Rollie Fingers or a Goose Gossage; you're probably gonna feel like clinching something every time the manager signals for the closer. And I suspect even Yankees fans felt some trepidation when the game's most dominant reliever ever took the mound in the 9th inning - especially this one time that comes to mind.
Just an awful performance today. Every pitch he throws feels like it is going to be a ball. except that one.lol
I understand where you are coming from and I certainly don't expect a Mariano type performance. But at the same time we are 2 months in and our closer has an astronomical era for a closer. A closer should have a sub 3 era and it seems a lot do. Rodney is more than double that! He has 19.2 IP, 16 runs allowed... That's a closer? 11 walks and 20 hits. Almost an average of 1.66 base runners per IP.
But at the end of the day can we really blame Rodney. We knew what we were getting before the season even started and it was discussed. It is the GM that needs to make the change.

Rodney sucks. Cut him.
I must admit, I was not on his side but he has been showing much better than I thought it would/could. With a number of 1 run games recently we could have been on the wrong side of many of those if he wasn't doing well.
