Rapper/basketball player Romeo Miller recently sustained a knee injury during the first high school basketball game of the year that will force him to miss the rest of the season.

The rapper/actor who plays point guard for Beverly Hills High School, injured his knee during the school’s opening match up last month versus Valencia California’s West Ranch High School.

According to Romeo‘s father, Percy “Master P.” Miller, doctors advised the rapper to refrain from strenuous activity until he makes a full recovery.

“His doctor told him not to play on it for two weeks and give it a chance to heal,” Master P. told AllHipHop.com. “After two weeks, he got back in the game and he knee began to hurt again. He stayed out of the game another three weeks, but the knee still kept giving him trouble.”

According to Master P., the rapper can still run and function, but his knee gives him trouble when attempts to jump.

The news comes as Romeo prepares for his college basketball debut at the University of Southern California in the fall of 2008.

The six-foot-tall rapper earned a full scholarship to USC as a standout on the Beverly Hills High Boys Basketball team, averaging 13.9 and 5.6 assists per-game during the 2006 season.

Romeo is now focused on rehabilitating his injured knee in time for his freshman year in college.

“Now, he'll stay out [this season] and make sure it heals totally,” Master P. said. “Staying off it will keep him from having further problems, like tearing something which would cause him to need to be operated on. So, we wanna make sure it heals.”

1) Hope his knee comes out ok don't wish injury on anybody.

2) Is it me or is that article weird? Given the time lag from when he got hurt to now, shouldn't they know exactly what the injury is? The kid has money so he can afford the best doctors seems weird to me the story doesn't say exactly what is wrong with the knee?

It does explain why he hasn't been playing, he was actually suspended from the team earlier this year he had reportely decided to sit out games early in the season and the coach suspended him. I'm assuming now it was his knee that caused him to sit out, which again is weird since they very clearly announced he'd been suspended, and who suspends a player who's injured?

Do you know what he was suspended for?

Do you know what he was suspended for?

The LA Times had it awhile back they just said that he and a teammate were suspended because they skipped games in an early tournament for some unknown reason. At the time everyone assumed Miller had a big head from getting the USC scholarship but maybe he really had a knee injury?

Just weird, if he was hurt they wouldn't suspend him, but by now they should know what is wrong with the knee.

Ya, this does all seem strange.. And I mean the whole thing.. From the USC scholarship, to the website that was pulled that listed him higher than he was, to now this suspension/knee injury.. Just odd the whole thing..

So Gee glad you posted this it's another example of bizarre things connected to USC basketball.

There's speculation that this entire thing is made up by Master P's PR people.

Apparently Romeo wasn't even listed on the roster for Beverly Hills High this year and the reason is they were investigating whether he really lived in the attendance area or not. Apparently they either own or rent a place close to the HS but reportedly don't actually live there which made him ineligible and that's the real reason he was suspended.

The suspicion is the whole thing is fake. I mentioned this before but if you read Master P's bio he says he had a full ride scholarship to Houston out of HS but hurt his knee and never played for them. It's completely untrue he never had a scholarship there, no idea if he hurt his knee or not but that story was debunked years ago when he first got famous and started making the claim. Now it appears he's claiming it for his son?

Ok, that just added a whole new level of oddity to this.. I would be shocked if Romeo played any significant time at USC..

He won't. I claimed all along he'll be there one year with his buddy Derozan who's a great player. Derozan will go pro and then Miller will give up his scholarship and everyone will say what a nice kid. It's a package deal to get Derozan to go to USC.

The story is all rumor now nothing concrete but the school apparently says Romeo has not played in any games for them this season so if he really injured his knee it wasn't in one of their games as claimed.

I still feel sorry for the kid his dad is pulling the strings but if this is really a fake injury you have to wonder how far the kid will let his dad go before he just puts his foot down and says stop?

There's so many inconsistencies in this story I couldn't resist.

Gee posted the original story 1-30. LA Times said Miller's last game was 1-19, just over a week later his dad informed the coach his season was over due to a knee injury. In the link above his dad said he hurt it, sat out 2 weeks, played again, sat out 3 weeks, and then decided to sit out the season.

his last game is 1-19, 11 days later they announce his season is over. I can understand rounding up 11 days to TWO weeks, but 3?

There's a link on a USC site that says he injured the knee in the teams first game and missed 4 games before coming back. he didn't play in the first game he skipped the tournament and got suspended for four games for doing that.

They also referred to it as a "serious knee injury" that doctors said required time to heal and then later said they don't want it to become a tear. I think in general in basketball a knee injury has to be a tear to be considered "serious"?

This link does show a pic of him standing on crutches I guess that was the point of the later release because rumors were swirling the original press release wasn't true.
