cardinal fan aside, who would you rather have. Brady Quinn or Matt Leinart?

The football outsiders piece in ESPN the Magazine and on ESPN.com about when to label a QB a bust actually makes an interesting case for Leinart, pointing out that his early numbers were better than Stafford and Sanchez despite no running game. Quinn doesn't compare all that favorably either, and unnamed source (FWIW) from another team picked the Cardinals as the team he would call if seeking a near-term solution for a rebuild.

If leinart had not stunk it up so bad in the third preseason game last year he would more than likely be our starter today. I still remember the first half of the Bears game when Matt played great in the we let them off the hook game. It looks like I am the only one on this board that thinks Matt will play great when it is his time. Stay with Matt.

Do people completely forget Leinart's rookie year, when he showed, even as a rookie, that he could play in this league?

His rookie year was the epitomy of average and inconsistent. If his rookie year was so good and if he had proven he had what it took in this league Warner wouldn't be here today! He didn't and warner is here. Many QB's in this league have had stretches of promise and still amounted to nothing!

I was wondering, has the "work" they have done to his mechanics made him a better QB than he was, or did it mess with "what worked" for him making him regress as a QB?????

You really think its that cut and dried? I don't think either has done enough to elicit a strong opinion either way.

Absolutely, without a doubt and I find the very question to be ludicrous. IMO.

same here. I asked 8 non-cardinal fans and 7 said Leinart, and I figured there would be unbiased opinions on here because people on here aren't afraid to say if Leinart is worse than someone. Hopefully my roomate will finally give this one up :D

Leinart. Never liked Quinn even in college. Leinart has shown flashes of goodness. Just hope Leinart is learning and ready to step in when it's his turn.

I've always liked Lienart and there is no telling what would have happened if he remained the starter all along without the injury. He is a winner. Some day if not for us for another team Matt will get his shot and be very successfull.

My post was in reference to the original question: Leinart or Quinn?

Leinart showed his rookie year, and prior to injury his second year, that he could play in this league. Was he great? By no means, but average and inconsistent is exactly what is expected by most rookie QB's.

Quinn on the other hand hasn't shown diddley!
