I will never miss those days. It was a frustrating situation for both the team and the players. It delayed some of the rookies from working out and studying the playbook.

yeah,... the good'ol days of Cardinals football when our big debates were over whether or not our first round rookie would be signed by opening day or later into the season.

seemed like nobody signed before pre season week three back then at best. Mr B took a lot of flack for that....but it was mostly due to sleezy agents trying to fleece the Birds...because they had a reputation for being cheap......and in many ways they were for various reasons

limiting agents fees and installing the rookie pay scale were the two best things the league has done over the past twenty years.

While i agree with your Kat paragraph blaming the agents is laughable. Bill had a WELL earned reputation for being cheap. And the majority of teams didn’t have nearly the year-over-year issues we did. Are you suggesting that every agent targeted the cardinals for different treatment than other teams? Cmon. You look at the constant in an equation with multiple variables . . . and here the constant was the team.

that is true. But to think the agents didnt try to leverage that reputation is also laughable and somewhat naive.

what Billy B was most guilty of was being an honorable old dude. he moved to phoenix on a handshake agreement to build a stadium....and the city of Phoenix screwed him.... then ASU proceeded to screw the team on parking fees and when they finally lost in court they doubled the fees and had students out at Cardinals games blaming the price increase on parking,..on the cardinals.

what cannot be denied, is that once the redbirds finally got the stadium they were promised, and the revenue streams that come with it...suddenly the reputation for being cheap went up in smoke...suddenly the Cardinals are considered a top notch organization. Folks want to attribute the change all to Michael...and he has had some influence I am sure. But the solid fact is, the cardinals always said they could be more competitive once they got a stadium and they were correct.

agents. agents are lawyers... there is a reason why the league stepped in and limited their fees...Lawyers...there is a statement involving sandpaper sex toys in there somewhere, for about 99.9956% of them

(present company excluded of course)

Which makes Dak Prescott's performance for instance very crucial if he played like he did last season being in his third season of his rookie contract... stud running back or not

Absolutely. I think they have to pay Prescott. After all, he is their franchise quarterback. They will probably end with the same problems as the Seahawks after they paid Russell Wilson.

A few years back, authors were writing articles about how you could expect to see QBs go higher than every just because of the cost controlled years. Teams get a figurative cap penalty for hitting on post-round one QBs since they don't get that 5th year option. EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder were examples of this concept, but this concept may have been shelved based on their lack of success.
