The thing with me is I have no problem with a guy who outperforms his contract expecting to be rewarded, I was the first guy on this board pointing out we should do so with Quan, I brought it up DURING his rookie year. My problem is the way Rosenhaus accomplishes it, by having players hold out or walk out.
Rueben Droughns was on the open market for weeks, Cleveland finally gave up 2 DL's, Ekuban and Myers, who they didn't want and who'd done virtually nothing for them. That proved the market for Droughns wasn't very good, he simply wasn't that highly regarded most teams felt he was the product of Denver's ability to run the football. And after that, Rosenhaus decided well they traded for him, now they have to give him a new deal so we're going to stage a one day walkout just to bring it up.
Why not bring it in a more professional way?
