The big surprise to me is the catcher spot. Its a big mistake to take the two young guys, IMO. One should be playing every day in AAA, instead of rotting on the bench. Stinnett should have been our backup.

Bullpen:

Valverde to start the season on the DL, Hairston in AAA.

May be a mistake, but I think it's a good move, and shows Bomel has balls. Also, he had said from day one that if it was a close call he would stay with an in-house guy rather than bump someone off the roster to make room for an invitee.

The one I would like to change is Terrero - he's looked like crap defensively; Hairston has looked better in the OF! But Terrero is out of options, so they're sort of stuck with keeping him up here for now.

more predictions...

- Valverde needs to work on that delivery or he's never going to be healthy.
- Tracy will be hitting in the #2 hole by the end of the season
- the pen is either going to be really good or really bad

I agree with you. Terrero is a head case. The kind of player who will always fall short of his potential.

Hairston isn't a Center Fielder, but with Q, we have a backup. And Hairston is much more solid than Terrero. I think it's time to let another team develop Luis.

I had a chance to watch them in last Sunday's game at Tucson. Hairston was much more impressive.

And, I gotta say, Tony Clark was extremely impressive. Having him as lead pinch-hitter and 1B backup (perhaps even RH platoon 1B) really helps the team.

They should have Gosling be a middle relevier

Why on earth would you want that? Gosling has the potential to be a top 3 starter, (more near the bottom end, but still....) stick Halsley there.

This morning I was mentally running through our roster - in spite of the veteran infusion, we'll have a number of rookies and several guys with one year or less experience - Hill and Snyder, Halsey and Gosling, Aquino, Lyons, Bruney, Tracy, Terrero.

I have always felt that Terrero was a lot of hoopla over not much end result. Maybe he belongs with Durazo as a DH in the AL...
