Mary Cate Spang was a perfect 3 for 3, driving in a team-best four runs Tuesday during the Northridge softball team’s 24-9 victory against visiting Tree of Life.

Josie VanFossen added three hits and three runs, Cheyann Severance two hits, four runs and three RBIs, Elizabeth Behn two hits, four runs and two RBIs and Camryn Moore four runs for the Vikings (4-2), who won their fourth consecutive game.

Utica falls on road​


Kenzie Fletcher recorded a double and two RBIs for Utica in a 13-3 loss at Danville.

Cheyenne Smith added a double, a run and an RBI and Kaitlin Evans and Kiersten Hull a double and a run apiece for Utica (2-2).

Granville drops home game​


Megan Lodge homered and drove in three runs as a part of a 3 for 3 day for Granville in a 10-7 loss to visiting Olentangy.

Sophia Patena added three hits, including a double, a run and two RBIs and Carly Wollenburg and Josie Opfer a hit and a run apiece for the Blue Aces (3-2). Opfer struck out four and allowed two runs in three innings of relief.

Heath falls at home​


Heath hit three solo home runs in a 7-3 loss to visiting Olentangy Berlin.

Kyndall Spicer, Sydney Cottrell and Sophia Yanka each homered for the Bulldogs (3-3). Shelby Moore struck out five in five innings.

Newark falls at Groveport​


Lauren Queen notched two hits, a run and an RBI for Newark in a 17-5 loss at Groveport in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division play.

Lexi Shanaberg homered for the Wildcats (1-7, 1-1). Mackenzie Gostrue added a double and two RBIs and Audrey Lennon a hit, a run and an RBI.

Heights drops road game​


Ali West singled twice for Licking Heights in an 8-0 loss at Pickerington Central.

Kelsey Carter singled for the Hornets (2-2).

Liberty falls​


Vanessa Carroll singled, and Madison Looney scored a run for Liberty Christian (1-3) in a 21-1 loss at Mansfield Christian.

BASEBALL​

Lakewood wins in seventh​


Carter Davis and Garrett Hardway each reached base and scored runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving the host Lancers a 4-3 season-opening victory against Bexley.

Evan Moore recorded three hits, Davis a double and Jalen White two RBIs for Lakewood. Davis fired six two-hit scoreless innings of relief, striking out eight.

Heath wins opener​


Jamison Walsh’s three hits led a 13-hit attack, and Walsh also scored a run and drove in one for Heath in a 9-3 season-opening victory at Dublin Jerome.

Connor Corbett added two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Preston DeVito and Cam Stephens two hits, a run and an RBI apiece and Quentin Sunkle two hits and a run for the Bulldogs. DeVito struck out three and allowed two earned runs in five innings.

Johnstown rallies at Hartley​


Braeden Archibald and Erik Marohl each hit a two-run single, highlighting a nine-run fourth inning for Johnstown in a 10-6 victory at Bishop Hartley.

Carter Holbrook added two hits, a run and an RBI and Luke Carter and Sam Marasek a hit, a run and an RBI apiece for the Johnnies (2-0), who overcame a 6-0 deficit. Landon Larason allowed two hits and a run in three innings of relief, and Archibald closed it out with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

Heights wins on road​


Grady Stephens racked up three hits, including a double, two runs and four RBIs, powering Licking Heights to a 17-8 victory at Reynoldsburg.

Brady Pennington scored four runs, and Maxim Fink and Richard Hill added a hit and three runs apiece for the Hornets (1-2). Dom Yosick struck out six and allowed three runs in four innings of relief.

GCA cruises​


Josh Benvie hit two triples, scored three runs and drove in three, fueling Granville Christian in a 13-2 victory against visiting Madison Christian to open Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League play.

Aidan Rhoads added three hits and four runs and Bentley Johnson a double, a run and two RBIs for the Lions (3-0, 1-0). Jake Fabbro allowed one earned run in three innings before Matthew Riedel struck out five of the seven batters he faced in relief.

Northridge wins at home​


Sam Miller was 3 for 3, including a double, and scored a run and drove in one for Northridge in a 14-6 victory against visiting Tree of Life.

Collin Matheson and Brice Beaver each doubled, combining for four hits, two runs and five RBIs, and Sawyer Miller added a hit, two runs and two RBIs for the Vikings (3-0). Will Higgins and Titus Hardin struck out three apiece in relief.

Utica nipped at home​


East Knox scored in the top of the sixth inning, sending host Utica to a 3-2 defeat.

Braxton Fisher struck out eight, allowing three hits and three unearned runs in 5 2/3 innings for Utica (0-4). Connor Garee singled and doubled and scored a run, and Gavin Tussey added a hit and an RBI.

Newark edged at home​


Visiting New Albany scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning, sending Newark to a 6-3 defeat.

Moses Crane singled home Aidan Hamilton, and he and Carter Lovell later scored on Seth Fish’s two-run single during a three-run fifth inning to briefly give the Wildcats (0-2) the lead.

Newark wins in five​


Zayden Ross totaled 10 kills, eight aces and two blocks, lifting Newark to a victory at Pickerington Central, 25-21, 11-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-11.

Miles Drake added 30 assists, five kills and four aces, Teshaun Brown 11 kills and four aces, Adrian Taylor five kills, five aces and 15 digs and Kahne Pastorius six kills, 10 digs and two blocks for the Wildcats (2-2).

BOYS TENNIS​

Watkins sweeps​


Graham Smith, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0, No. 1 and Wyatt Meade, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0, at No. 3 each won third-set tiebreakers in singles play, completing Watkins Memorial’s 5-0 victory against visiting Pickerington North.

Michael Hare, 6-0, 6-2, also won at No. 2 singles. Gavin Adelman and Nathan Walter, 6-2, 7-5, and Parker Carte and Chase Smith, 6-2, 6-0, won doubles matches for the Warriors (2-0).

BOYS LACROSSE​

Johnstown falls on road​


Will Taylor scored all three goals for Johnstown in a 9-3 loss at Columbus Academy.

Taylor also fielded eight ground balls for the Johnnies (2-2). Mark Hettinger added an assist, Dominic Ortman five caused turnovers and Ben Smith nine saves.
