Forgotten Realms - my hands-down favorite in the AD&D series. I won't play any other world except that one.

My wife is about halfway through with her first novel. I'm biding my time to read any of it though until the first draft is completed. It will be done later this Fall. I'm pretty excited about it. I wrote a ton when I was in high school and the little college I went to so I'm pretty envious of those of you who can write and write well.

I guess anyone can write - it's the writing well that eludes the majority.

Wow Shawn. I was like you a long time ago--I used to love reading the Forgotten Realms and especially the Dragonlance books. But after reading Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind and George R.R. Martin, those books just take space up on my shelf. They aren't very well written and most of them cater to a much younger crowd (unlike Martin, who is the most "adult" fantasy writer I've ever read). I don't know how that would translate to RPGs, which I played in high school, but the reading is interesting nonetheless.

I love Salvatore's books - the Dark Elf Trilogy, etc. I try to read whatever he writes. I've never even heard of those other writers. I might have to make another stop by the bookstore this weekend and pick up one of their books. Any recommendations?

Do you read Salvatore's books, regardless of subject?

No - I've only read the Forgotten Realms related works. Are his other books any good?

Salvatore is AWESOME. I liked both the Dark Elf Trilogy and the Ice Wind Dale Trilogy.
