This isn’t looking like a great trend. Hamstring problems last year and now back issues. After FIBA last summer and the Olympics next summer that’s a lot of extra mileage. As hard as it is to watch us without him you cannot risk I’m playing until he’s 100% IMO. These types of issues are too easily aggravated.

Also, I hope Book doesn’t play in the Olympics.

Hamstring and back are two different things...with different prognosis. We dont know the details so how are we supposed to get alarmed. When he starts going under the knife then it's time to panic....maybe.

They're connected though, a lot of nerves behind both areas.

He’s had ankle and knee surgery in the past and missed 40+ games in 2015 with a foot injury. It seems like his issues are different every time and not reoccurring to specific body parts. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Kind of reminds me of Ginobili.

Having the World Cup and the Olympics in back-to-back years doesn't help. I wish Rubio could skip the Olympics. There is no rest between seasons or at least go at a slower pace.

It’s selfish as a fan but I don’t want guys on my team playing for their national team. I know the Spurs went back and forth on it with Manu for years and he’d seemingly break down every year come playoff time. Those guys for Spain and Argentina really take pride in it though.

Plus the thing too is if they get hurt or break down later then the team gets stuck.

I guess the hope is the player realizes that it's hard on the body especially when they get older to compete in these events. It's hard to see Rubio turning down the Olympics though. If they would chose only one event such as the Olympics it would be better.

Missing time is missing time and reason for concern. Even if it is short of surgery.

Get alarmed? Surgery? We shouldn't be concerned until it reaches that point?

I disagree! A great player who is available half the time is half a player.
