VIKES TO PULL A REVERSE HERSCHEL

In a mirror-image of their 1989 blockbuster trade for Cowboys running back Herschel Walker, the Minnesota Vikings are close to trading receiver Randy Moss to the Arizona Cardinals for a truckload of picks and players, including the No. 3 overall pick in this month's draft, according to a source close to Moss.

The Vikings undoubtedly would try to replace Moss by taking the best available receiver with the No. 3 pick, and they're surely hoping that local product Larry Fitzgerald is available after the Chargers and Raiders use the first and second picks, respectively.

The Vikings also would get the Cardinals' second-round and third-round picks in 2004, along with their first-rounder and third-rounder in 2005 and the Cards' second-round and third-round picks in 2006.

Arizona defensive end Calvin Pace, the team's second first-rounder in 2003, and linebacker Gerald Hayes, the 2003 third-rounder, likewise will trade crimson for purple once the deal is done.

The move reunites Moss with Denny Green, who nabbed the receiver after he plunged through the first round of the 1998 draft, falling behind guys like Ryan Leaf, Andre Wadsworth, Curtis Enis, Duane Starks, Jason Peter, Kevin Dyson, Robert Edwards, Vonnie Holliday, and Terry Fair. As a rookie, Moss fueled the Vikes to a 15-1 record and a coulda-woulda-shoulda Super Bowl berth that crashed to earth after kicker Gary Anderson hooked a game-clinching field goal against the Falcons.

That would be a disaster to this team!

Moss is a great player but to give up two firsts rounders including this years #3 with WRs like Fitz etc... coming out????

Also 3 second round picks and four 3rd round picks?

And another first rounder in Pace(who will develop) and Hayes (who I feel will develop as well)

That trade would set this team back more than a few years IMO! I would be supremely pissed!

But it would be a great April Fools joke!! (no source for the story aj)

I didn't read to the bottom of the page. It was a farfetched scenario to say the least.

No way were you getting me after the Monday Night Game thread. Besides, I wouldn't have believed this in mid-March, let alone April Fool's.

Moss is a great impact player but no way do I give up that much for him. If we were one or two players aways from a playoff team maybe but not with all the needs we have.

ProFootballTalk.com seems to think April Fools occurs 200 times in one year. I would never believe what they have to say. I'm not that far off either :p

You should make April Fool's jokes believable.

That was entirely unbelievable.

But of course, with the crap that site spews, this is what they consider a believable joke.

Dorks.

I don't understand why everyone on this board complains about PFT's integrity. Their content is the most accurate on the web and they have a high level of journalistic integrity.
