The defense just seems to be much more disciplined ever since Bert Berry went down. I really like that Antonio Smith kid. It was his pressure that caused the Eric Green interception at the end of the game.

Not dissing on the B-Train, but it is kind of weird why the defense seems so much more focused and better against the run with him out.

I think it's because we moved Wilson into the box. Berry is not a great run defender so it's not blaspheme to suggest he's not but to me the main difference is how we're using Wilson.

I think that's exactly what has made the difference against the run. Using Wilson forces teams use an extra player to block him. If they don't, he's going to be in the backfield creating havoc. I think using him is much more effective then the 5 man front that was used earlier in the year.

This is some what off topic, but I was just thinking during the game yesterday, how this team just two years ago, could hardly register one sack, let alone 3 in a game. I know our record does not reflect it, but this team has come a long way.

Also the time Berry went down the coaches started to go back to basics with a lot of tackling drills. The LB's are playing much more disciplined to their gaps and assignments. Also the CB's are tackling better specifically Green.

Darling's hit yesterday would be a perfect example.

Play smith and berry

Okeafor doesnt do much for me

Really? Coz Okeafor was in almost every play yesterday. I mean his hustle yesterday was top notch. I think Okeafor has been a nice signing, not great, but definetly nice compliment to Berry.

And I agree, Wilson playing at the line si the reason this run defense is better. Some game, it will burn us though. But I think you have to pick your poison, and this seems to be working.

I agree whether he was chasing Smith out of bounds, or tackling the runner on the other side of the field he was on almost every play yesterday.

I think it is mainly due to changes in the way Pendergast is using them. Wilson for one. If Berry was in there now, I think we would be registering even more sacks and creating alot more pressure. Berry being out forced the change IMO. It shows Clancy can be very ceative in using what he has. I too like this Smith kid. It kind of takes the sting out of seeing Vandenbosch doing so well in another jersey. Well, not really. I would've loved to see him do it as the counterpart to Berry. Then maybe instead of signing Okeafor, we could've landed a top CB, OL or DT. I still like Okeafor, but if Kyle had shown he was able to stay healthy and put up the numbers he has, we wouldn't have needed him.

"..And in this corner.."

What do you think of how DBlackstock has played when KD was out? Awfully big shoes to fill, I'll say that. DB looks extremely fast off the LOS just like his predraft scouting report, which said something to the effect that DB was there "for most of the handoffs" faster than the RB's. I have always loved Eric Green; Arrington has shown wee glimpses of special skills to me..[I won't use his name in the same sentence as Tommy Jones or Garrison Hearst] Enough to make me tinkle my shorts once or twice on Monday as I re-played his breakout plays in slow motion.  :p

I agree with the Wilson solution. I also agree that Blackstock, and Green have been nice addittions this year.
