Yep dead on Rugby. The game is different & Thesmel thinks the wishbone is still alive & the way to win.

Worst thing is, I SO wish it was. I miss watching teams run the ball. I really do. It was my favorite part about football.

I will take a good run over a catch any day of the week, and of course, twice on Sundays.

me too.
I am one of those rarities that enjoys a game that ends at 3-2 or 7-10..... but the rules committee is taking defense out of the game

Instant gratification is part of the problem today. Too many fans want high scores and do not appreciate the nuances of the game anymore. As a long time soccer coach, I try to teach people why soccer is such a great game if they could just appreciate what players are doing off the ball and why runs off the ball are such a great part of the game and how a coordinated defense is such a pleasure to watch.

Our running game is now the quick passing game. Can't do anything about that unless our OL improves (unlikely because lack of talent). DJ is elite and would do much better than CJ2K/Ellington. But even then he wouldn't come close to the rushing success he had the past 2 seaons. Until DJ returns it all hinges on Palmer's arm!

We need to run often enough for it to be a threat so that it keeps enemy pass rushers honest.

run the ball with who smelly?? and behind WHO??

the only person who will be running behind our line is Palmer...and you can tell by the way he starts to lean forward right before he gets blasted

I didn't read this post, because I'm deep in a cave near the center of the earth with absolutely no internet connection, but I can tell you with certainty that you're doing it wrong... :p ~smelisms

Bless you for coaching.

I cannot do it.

When coaching any young person that is not getting paid to play a sport, I will always believe, that win and loses are not the most important thing. Never will be.

When the player is 45 years old, it will not be the wins or the loses they think of. It will be fun of playing the game, the camaraderie, the lesson you learn with working/living with others, the lesson in how to handle adversity, the results of practice/discipline, and so many other things.

Not to mention coaching no longer means actual coaching. Fundamentals ? LOL!!!! Yeah right. Any talk of that was "boring", and we should be teaching 16 year old how to do what the pros do!

UGH.

Yeah, I got out of that and will never go back. Between the parents, and the attitude that will trickle down to the kid because of the parents it has all become about winning, and "looking good".

I guess it was not enough to just win the game, you had to do it like the pros do it.

Again, I tip my hat to you.

Funny point here, that if I am teaching youth football, I probably would sound like THESMEL, lol! RUN THE BALL!

Imo we should get back to last year in terms of OL. Veldher-Wetzel-Shipley-Watford-Humphries worked well at some point last season. I think Boone is an upgrade on the interior, especially in pass protection. Let Wetzel/Watford battle it out for the other guard spot. Boehm should be a reserve right now and try to push Shipley. Boehm for sure can't play guard but maybe he can be a solid center for the future.
